DIGGING IS A SERIOUS MATTER

in #music6 years ago

Hi friends !

I would like to talk with you about Digging before share some of my music with you.
I have played and collected records since some years, this is my great passion.
It’s quite difficult learn how to mix with vinyls, you must listen a lot of EPs and you should create your collection with perseverance and devotion. You have to practice a lot until mixing becomes for you like riding a bike.

Everyone with time can express himself with his own mixing style and of course with his records, if you want to learn deeply you have to mix in different conditions and in the most varied places with several sets up audio.
I love club and dancing but it’s quite hard to find a place where you can play and practice your passion.

The record market and the dance music movement have always followed the same dynamics that regulate the others markets: ruthless competition, maximization of profits for the clubs, elite of Djs in closed circuit and a lot of low quality music because the only thing that matter is to surprise (or daze) the audience with icons of hit, fashion and advertising.

The DJ is becoming the reference model for teenagers because he represents a symbol of success, an easy way to seduce beautiful girls and earn a lot of money in shortest time possible.
For these reason the dj’s technique and his music are not such important nowadays. Most of DJs who climb the console do not absolutely nothing during their performance, they get up on stage and wait for applause.

This way of playing music is dangerous and stupid for everybody: for DJs, for music market and for the audience.
I believe that music belongs to everybody and everyone should have the chance to compete with their passion.
Being a DJ, it's not being a musician, it's not being a plumber, it's not being a lawyer. Everyone is different from the other but everyone must be able to express himself and communicate with others in the interests of everyone.

This is what David Mancuso said about his club view and about the power of dance music: “I do not do anything outside to clean the records, put them on the turntable and stand in connection with the audience. I try to put the technical side in the margin and to stay in that state that I call grace: which means being worthy to do what I do and sharing the pleasure of music with other people.”

This is what the DJ should be. Everything else is noise.
Thanks for reading and sorry for my English friends :)
