On my trip to Caracas, a friend took me for a walk. It is known as a photographic journey. Today you will meet one of the most gloomy places I could visit, even though it has a relationship with religion. Welcome to a new adventure visiting the Museum Sacrum of Caracas.

Located in the historic center of the city. To get there it is necessary to take the Metro of Caracas and depending on where you are, get to the transfer station "Plaza Venezuela", which is line 1 of the metro and then go towards Propatria until you reach the station "El silencio" Walk a few blocks along the Avenue. East 2. Until you reach Bolívar square. In front, between the corners "LaTorre" and "Gardillas" is the museum.

With this post I want to be very specific in a section of the museum that I liked the most. I will show you the rest of the exhibitions on another occasion. But this one in particular, in my opinion is the best of the whole installation. Because of its history and the things that happened there many years ago.

This building was built in 1884 by Monsignor Crispulo Uzcategui to be the headquarters of the Seminary of the city. Since 1924 the catholic newspaper “La Religion” worked here until 1960 the building was closed. In 1992 it opened again after it was restored and from then on to this time it has been the Museum Sacrum of Caracas.

Since the museum was built in what was formerly the cemetery of the cathedral of Caracas, erected in 1673 and that ceased to be in the year 1876. In the place was forbidden burial in the old cemeteries. That is why in the current museum there is a common pit, an ossuary in which the bones of the deceased were placed. You can also visit the remains of an old Ecclesiastical prison from the year 1713, where those members of the church who committed crimes against morals and religion were imprisoned.

It is a spectral journey. Before reaching the pit you have to cross the area of what was the prison. But the entrance is very peculiar, I do not know why construction is done in this way. But you have to duck a bit, in my case it was more than normal because I'm tall.

I made the whole journey in this position

The route is marked with wood, I think it is like that to preserve the original floor.

In the place where the prison was, there are some sculptures that are very frightening, I do not pretend to offend anyone's religion, but it is my perception. All are from anonymous artists, the only thing that is known is they are from the XVII-XVIII century.

At the end on the left is the pit. The area is protected by some crystals.

There is an old marble plate reconstructed with its remains. It was written in Latin. I had an explanatory note but I do not remember at this moment what it is about. I think it was talking about some important person from the time buried there.

The place transmits a very strong spectral energy. Being there for my mind, the following questions were asked: How many people were thrown there? I'm walking on top of human remains. Who were they in life? What did they do to make their last destination a place like this?
