Another boring Monday at work building hot rod parts.

I had some time to pretty much finish off the rear plumbing and wiring of this old Ford pick-up truck today. I used a leftover wire holder from a gm truck wheel speed sensor to securely hold the fuel pump and level sensor wiring. There is a 12 gauge ground wire connecting the trucks frame to the fuel tank also.

Just ahead of the tank is the easily accessible fuel filter mounted to the frame. All of the fuel lines are made with -6 AN fittings.

Here's the quick rundown on how to assemble these fittings. First push the nut piece over the braided line. It's not as easy as it sounds.

Next thread the other piece into the nut and line. I like to put some tape on the fuel line so I can see if it has pushed the fuel line out of the fitting.

Also I like to wrap tape around the two pieces that are being screwed together. It helps prevent any damage to the soft aluminum fittings-yeah I know there are special wrenches just for this purpose, but usually an apprentice uses them for something else and wrecks them.

And there is the fully assembled custom race car part that anyone can make to fit just about anywhere. Easy peasy lemon squeasy. 🍋

I'm sure there are actual names to the above pieces, but that doesn't really matter. Next up on this truck is to build brake lines and install roll control. Thanks for checking out more boring hot rod building.
