Independence Day

Yes, it's pro American.

If you can get past America saving the planet again and being the focal point for the alien invasion then this isn't a bad action film.

Also never mind that an Earth computer can interact and upload a computer virus to an alien mother ship. Anyone ever tried to run microsoft on linux, yet human to non human computer works without an issue or a bug.

This is best viewed expecting the good guys (Americans) to prevail, unite and then save the planet from an alien invasion. I could keep going about the various issues with the story line, however sit back relax, eat some food and enjoy the action with the special effects.

In case you haven't guessed the planet is saved from the alien invasion on the 4th of July, America's independence day. Therefore the alien invasion has to start a bit earlier, the 2nd of July in the movie. We have satellite communications showing interference, and no one knows why, well almost no one.

This is closely followed by meteors changing course which turn out to be alien spacecraft. Once all the spacecraft are in place by the 3rd of July a number of capital cities are destroyed. Most of the remaining armed forces and a number of civilians head towards area 51. The next day humanity fights back, the cornerstone of the defence is ti disable the mother ship by giving it a computer virus.

Yes! Must have watched Goldblum, Pullman and Smith save the world about 50 times.

Didn't think much of 2 though. Kind of wished they never made it.

Indeed, not surprised that they made the second one, it was ok, but only ok.
