We all know that his name is James Bond and he loves his martini shaken and yet we all know that despite the love he has garnered over the years, he is only fictional. Created by Ian Fleming, James Bond is one of the most famous fictional spies who has managed to keep you on edge for nearly five decades now.

With the 24th movie in the Bond series, the film “Spectre” is all set to hit the screens November 2015, let us look at a few facts you may not know about James Bond.

What may you not know about James Bond?

  • The name James bond was chosen offhand from a book that Ian Fleming was reading. It was a book on bird watching, and the name is the same as that of Dr. James Bond, an ornithologist. The idea was to keep the name mundane, and Ian Fleming believed that this name would be apt. Now we all know that that this name has created history.

  • According to the book on James Bond, he is a man orphaned when young, who studied in Eton and joined the Royal Navy. Coincidentally (or not), the author Ian Fleming also studied at Eton and was working with Naval Intelligence before turning into a successful author. In fact, James Bond the fictional character and the author has many similarities like the way they take their martini, their preference for coffee and the fact that Fleming was a spy only adds to the mystery.

Moving onto some interesting facts from some of the famous James Bond movies that will leave you astounded.
  • The Flying circus featured in the movie “Goldfinger” shows five pilots, women pilots at that. In actuality, they were not women pilots but men posing as women wearing a blonde wig.

  • Remember the barrel roll stunt in the movie “Casino Royale”? Well, that roll stunt was not just unusual on screen, but it also holds the record for the most barrel rolls ever. The car completed seven rolls assisted by the cannon.

  • When it comes to the villains in the Bond movies, how can one forget the man with metal teeth, Jaws in the movie “The spy who loved me.” The role was played by Richard Kiel, and the metal teeth couldn’t be placed for more than half a minute at any time. The chain that he savagely bites through that looks like made of iron in the same movie, was made of licorice.

  • The first film that featured the many exciting gadgets and the famous Aston Martin of Bond was the movie, Goldfinger. It also was the first one to feature laser beams in it.

  • The corkscrew car jump in “The Man with the Golden Gun” was taken in one shot with eight cameras capturing from different angles, and it also was the first to have computer modeling.

And there continues to no ending for such interesting facts about this famous fictional character!

Thanks for reading....

I know many things about james bond ...but it was unknown me ....
Thanks for giving us more information about james bond

It’s hard to imagine what the movies would be like without James Bond. Ian Fleming’s debonaire and daring secret agent has become the modern definition of a man’s man, despite the fact that he’s not a real person. In fact, Bond, James Bond has become the yard stick by which all over action movie heroes are measured. It’s not hard to understand why: he embodies everything that men want to be and almost everything women want their men to be. He’s strong, suave and smooth in situations that could reduce mere ordinary mortals to their knees. And best of all, he always gets a hot girl in the end.

james bond is a great personality indeed :)

I remember one time I once heard an old rumor the time hal laboratory was developing smash bros 64 the smash bros team wanted to add James bond on the roster as a playable fighter but due to legal licenses from copyright never happened oh well atleast metal gear hero solid snake took James bond place in smash bros since solid snake was actually inspired by James bond another fact right there hahaha.

They're all amazing movies. James Bond is famous name known all along the world
