RE: How Important Are Earnings To You On Steem?

in #motivation4 years ago

I think your priorities in life, line up with your values. I enjoy blogging just like the next person. But for me as well, it's not work and when that starts I'm moving on too. However, the one of the best things in life is doing what you love and getting paid for it...which I foresee in the future as cryptos get massively adopted.

If STEEM went to $2 and nothing else changed, it would mean that the dollar values of our posts would be 10 times higher. Of course, some new people would come on board and Steemians in hibernation would find themselves not too busy to post. So, there would be more people dividing the same weekly pie. There were about 250,000 posts (including comments) made per day when the price was at a record level in January and February 2018. About 30,000 are made per day now. (Checked out some of @penguinpablo's old stats on SteemWorld.)

Assuming those of us who have been active through the bear market don't see our rewards plummet by a factor of 8.3 when the price goes back to those levels but by a much smaller factor owing to us having grown our networks, say, by a factor of 3, a 120x gain in price will translate into a 40x gain in the fiat value of our author rewards.

Someone who makes $3 a day now would then make $120 a day. The latter is enough to afford a comfortable middle class lifestyle in any first world country.

If I knew the price of STEEM found a floor based on some kind of solid fundamentals at $10, I could quit my day job and become a freelance journalist. I'm guessing a large part of my income stream from Steem would be passive income from renting out resource credits. For now, that looks like a pipe dream, though. It requires that Steem become the base layer for thousands of apps and communities used by tens or even hundreds of millions of users in total.
