Hello, dear friends!

Today I discovered an interesting challenge - Steemit Monthly Author Challenge, created by @future24 and decided to take part in it. This competition involves daily publications during a month, which is a difficult, but motivating task for me. You can see the rules of participation here.

This shot I made in the botanical garden in Berlin three weeks ago.

Are you familiar with John Wyndham's novel The Day of the Triffids? As a child, I read many fantastic novels, half of which I can not remember, but this horror novel left a trace in my child psyche. This is a story about plants that eat people. Incredible! But how incredible is this?!

I am an animal that eats only plants - I am vegan! And it seems to me quite logical the existence of plants that feed on animals!
Predatory plants look like a vertex of the evolution of the plant world. For Him, not only the process of photosynthesis is available, but also the brutal devouring of insects, which at times increases the chances of survival and successful reproduction even in difficult conditions. In a sense, this is a rethinking of the very concept of "plant", right?
It turns out that carnivorous plants are not so much bloodthirsty killers as they are hostages of circumstances. The ability to grow complex traps and kill insects is basically an adaptive life support mechanism in places where soil quality leaves much to be desired.
Nature is incredibly inventive!

So, I present you the beautiful murderer Sarracenia purpurea. Saracenia attracts insects with its color and sweet nectar, allocated by a jug, when trying to taste the nectar, the insect falls down inside the jug and drowns in the digestive fluid.
