Just one day makes such a big difference...
This is one of my I_dunno_how_many orchids. The one with the biggest blooms (so far) and absolutely ginormous leaves. In the middle of winter it starts to grow this very thick flower spike... and it grows.. and grows... and takes weeks and weeks to finally see the flowers.
Funny how the buds grow and until the reach some stage it takes them forever. And then bam! and they just speed up and all want to open as if they were in a hurry. It is a such a cool moment to see the big, round bud finally crack and the petals slowly unfold.
I still have some rescue orchids that I have never seed blooming. They grow well now so I am kind of hoping I will see something new next spring.
That spotted center (originally yellow with red spots) in one minute reminds me of a bird and in another of those big, spotty manta fish. Amazing creatures!
