Monochrome Monday - Stonehenge Clone

My submission this week is a monument that looks a bit like the famous Stonehenge in England. A mystic place in the history of England. But this capture is from Burgas in Bulgaria you can estimate. Unfortunately I could not find out further details on the monument however I am working on it and will update accordingly. The original Stonehenge (see below a edited shot from Wikipedia) is one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. It can be found in Wiltshire, England and consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 ft high, 6 ft 11 in wide and weighing around 25 tons.

Stonehenge is very old (constructed around 3100 BC) but mainly known since the twelfth century, when Geoffrey of Monmouth created a nice story around King Arthur. According to Geoffrey the stone compilation are healing rocks, called the Giant's dance. Hope you like visual and story.

do it - it is awesome, not only because of the monument - talking about Bulgaria or England :-)?

would be interesting to know the history ;)

Yeah, waiting for my wife to come back to me - hope she knows more lol

Such a great shot and an interesting way the huge stone sabs are placed, does make one wonder when and why they were placed there like this

that is good question and topic of another post - feel free to do one and link it here

I will look forward to your post on that :)

This site looks very close to the Stonehenge. I love your entry and will love to read more about it. So just waiting for your next post regarding its history.

Thanks - lemme check if i make another post on the history - it might be boring - however i will update, either here or in a separate post

Till you make a new post, do not forget to check some of my cool posts.

This place looks more eerie and spooky than Stonehenge
It is amazing how long these structures can last
Great Photograph @uwelang

Cheers brother

Stonehenge is so beautiful amazing clicks.

Niceshot! There is another stone circle in the UK called Castlerigg Stone circle which is thousands of years old. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlerigg_stone_circle

interesting, did not know about that one

I just checked on megaliths.org and there are 13 sites mentioned in Bulgaria but this is not mentioned there. Let us know what you find out!
Great photo
Following you

Thanks, will certainly do - following back, thanks for taking the time to comment and research

Gorgeous, I just love standing stones. Never actually been to Stonehenge but I'm thinking because it's so well known it would be super touristy, always nice to hear about the lesser known places.

it is not super touristy - go early morning as the sun is rising
The first time I went there were no fences up around it like there are these days - it was even more magical then. There used to be the Stonehenge music festival there every year right next to it but things change..... happy days!

Thanks for commenting, you have a new follower

It'd be interesting to know what rock they were cut from, the drill marks are clear so my guess would be that this is a communist era monument, but it looks unfinished and incomplete compared to some of the amazing monuments that a friend from Varna has shown me.
