Series of 1937 Canadian Paper Bills

in #money6 years ago

Paper money may soon be extinct as digital money and crypto currencies take over our monetary system. Even coins which are more durable than paper bills are encroaching on the role of paper bills. I remember hearing that in Canada where I live that the Bank of Canada is thinking of introducing a $5 coin and eliminating the $5 paper bill due to the greater durability of coins and their cost effectiveness.

I like paper bills though and collect them from Canada and around the world. I think that paper money is great at showcasing a country's history and culture and the art work is beautiful. I want to share some of the bills in my collection on Steemit as I find that many people are interested in paper bills especially those bills that they may be unfamiliar with because of their age or geography.

Below are pictures of my framed 1937 Canadian series of bills and a $1 bill from 1935. Many Canadians have never seen paper money so old so this may be interesting to them. People interested in history and the history of money may also enjoy seeing them. The first picture of an individual bill is from 1935 and is of H.M King George V who is Queen Elizabeth's grandfather. On the bills of 1937 from $1 to $50 the portrait is of H. M. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth's father. On the $100 bill the portrait is of Sir John A. Macdonald, the first prime minister of Canada. In the 1935 series there is also a $500 bill and $1000 bill, however, these bills are very rare and very valuable so unfortunately i have yet to acquire them. Enjoy.
