PC Police Are At It Again: High School In Britain Bans Expensive Coats.
This is the type of virtue signaling that has major ramifications. The intent behind this may (or may not) be good, but the outcome certainly won’t be.
If a child can afford a nice winter coat they should wear it. This is very obvious. First of all an expensive coat is presumably better made and will keep the child warmer than a poor quality coat.
It also infringes on the freedom to express yourself (including with clothing) any way that you want.
The biggest problem with this however is that it’s totally against the message of trying to strive to improve yourself. A child who cannot afford a nice jacket can strive to work hard enough to be in a position that when they are older thier child will not have to go through the same problem.
Life is unfair. That’s the first and most important lesson. Hard work and delayed gratification will lead to a better life. Bring poor is unfortunate, but punishing students for wearing better quality clothing is a very bad precedent.
