Solar City, Tesla Motors, and Space X; Breaking down The Elon Musk deception.

The powers that be, have long known the best way to manipulate and control the mob is through 'Cult of personality'. A cult of personality arises when a regime uses mass media, propaganda, or other methods such as government-organized demonstrations to create an idealized, heroic, and at times worshipful image of a leader, often through unquestioning flattery and praise. Religious institutions and governments have long used a method of control in which a public figure (such as a political leader) is deliberately presented to the people of a country as a great person who should be admired and loved.

Many say the etymology of religion lies with the Latin word religare, which means “to tie, or to bind.” This seems to be favored on the assumption that it helps explain the power religion has over the masses.

Personally I do not follow any corporate media platforms so I had no notice that Elon Musk's company Space X was planning to drop a cherry red Tesla Roadster convertible into orbit around earth, complete with mock astronaut driver nicknamed "Starman" by the marketing geniuses behind this massive publicity stunt. From a pure demographic perspective it is hard to imagine that anyone who uses social media did not see at least one video of the event broadcast on their news feed.

Perhaps now Elon Musk can finally get his hand out of U.S. taxpayers' wallets? The perception of who Elon Musk is and how he has amassed such a large fortune is one of innovation and free market capitalism, sadly this couldn't be further from the truth. There is another way to get rich in the American system, and It's called cronyism. Musk's wealth and social status can be less attributed to a brilliant entrepreneur who got rich through innovation and market capitalism and more credit should be given to Elon's crony relationship with government and friends in high places.

Recently, Musk has invested in space travel, solar panels, and electric cars. There wasn't anything wrong with that until Musk dragged the government into it. Tesla Motors, SolarCity, and SpaceX his highest-profile projects, have all relied heavily on government subsidies. According to this 2015 article in the Los Angeles Times Tesla Motors, SolarCity Corp. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp, known as SpaceX, have together received an estimated $4.9 billion in government support. The figure underscores a common theme running through his emerging empire: a public-private financing model underpinning long-shot start-ups.

He definitely goes where there is government money," said Dan Dolev, an analyst at Jefferies Equity Research. "That's a great strategy, but the government will cut you off one day."

Tesla motors secured nearly $1.3 billion in benefits from a variety of sources, including money from Nevada to set up a car battery factory, federal subsidies through the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing program, and a number of federal and state tax breaks for the purchase of Tesla vehicles (such as the $7,500 federal tax credit and a $2,500 California rebate). Why would so much in government subsidies go to produce a car that only a few Americans can afford? The new Tesla Model S ranges from $80,000 to nearly $115,000 before tax credits and rebates.

SolarCity got over $300 million in federal grants and tax incentives, in addition to state and local subsidies meant to create an artificial demand for solar energy. In a funny twist, the company even moved in to old office space from Solyndra, the bankrupt crony solar panel company run by large donors to President Barack Obama's campaigns and subsidized by the infamous Department of Energy's 1705 loan program.

The Los Angeles Times shed some light on the state and federal cronyism involved in SpaceX: "On a smaller scale, SpaceX, Musk's rocket company, cut a deal for about $20 million in economic development subsidies from Texas to construct a launch facility there. (Separate from incentives, SpaceX has won more than $5.5 billion in government contracts from NASA and the U.S. Air Force.)" And why are the taxpayers subsidizing a company that specializes in commercial space travel when the United States has a hard enough time balancing a budget?

Though none of these projects has been profitable on its own, Musk is worth over 14 billion dollars according to Forbes magazine. Elon Musk is a master of deception following in the footsteps of NASA.

N.A.S.A stands for: Never A Straight Answer.

They have the same business model, solicit government grants and tax-payer money by propagating fantasy as social progression and validate their expenditure with marketing prowess and sensationalism.

The SpaceX website says that : "SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets." U.S. taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay for the whimsical ideas of private individuals for purpose that will not benefit many, if any, taxpayers.

Musk is a billionaire many times over. If he thinks colonizing other planets is a profitable idea, then he should put up his own money. The taxpayers shouldn't be forced along as passengers on his expensive and risky experiments.

Elon Musk made his fortune by inventing products commonly used by consumers every day. Now he has resorted to taking billions in government cash and subsidies to work on ideas that probably won't return a profit to the taxpayer. He's using his friendships in government, as well as some high-priced lobbyists, to keep the spigot of government money going his way. Though it has been profitable for him, Musk is a case study in cronyism and a shining example of a rich individual abusing his influence to make taxpayers pay for risky investments.

This supposed live stream -

- is laughably fake.

Sort:

I'm really sick of seeing this welfare queen's face in the media as if he is some kind of "green Jesus".

He's not.

He's just like the rest of these vampiric corporatists who refuse to sink or swim on their own merits and flaws. Unlike the common people in business who succeed or fail despite governments doing nothing for their prosperity and extorting massive amounts of their money to fund pigs like Elon Musk.

Excellent piece. Any time I see Musk's name trotted out as some poster boy for private enterprise it makes me physically ill. He is the type of person who would be dead in the water without the State to run to for handouts, which is exactly why he makes liberal use of the power given to him via the tax cattle's wealth.
