In Honor of Nonviolent Resistance to Tyranny & All Those Who've Given Their Lives For This Message of Love

Many people think it takes a lot of courage to take up arms against a violent oppressor or occupier, and in many cases violent resistance to tyranny does take bravery in the face of far better armed and more organized forces; but the true show of human courage is the man (or woman) who peacefully stands up to the armed oppressor in the face of violence and death with neither fear nor arms of any kind; this is true courage. With a heart of courage, a spirit longing for freedom, the voice of truth, and the love of humanity deep within the soul as his only weapons; these are the men who are humanity's true heroes, who show us the only way to true and lasting peace and freedom; these are the ones who show us all what true courage looks like.

And all too often these brave men and women who spend their lives spreading peace and loving humanity in the purest form - by standing up to violence, tyranny and oppression with nonviolent resistance through civil disobedience - these have all too often lost their lives at the hands of the very same violent ones they refused to lift a finger against as they set true life examples for nonviolent resistance all the way to their deaths. This post is in honor of all those brave and loving souls throughout history who have given their lives to show humanity a more perfect way of resistance; those murdered for living the truth, peace and love for humanity until their final breath.

From the Buddha in ~500-400 BC who is believed to have been poisoned in his last meal (which may or may not have been intentional), to Jesus in ~ the CE 30s who was brutally murdered by crucifixion by the Roman Empire and suffered a long and slow death; from Michael Servetus who was burned alive at the stake in the 1500s in the most cruel way imaginable being slowly roasted alive over green pine boughs for 30 tortuous minutes before death finally took him, to Ghandi who was assassinated in New Delhi on January 20, 1948; from Malcolm X assassinated in 1965, to Martin Luther King who was murdered by a bullet to his head on April 4, 1968 just one day after giving a most powerful final speech; these and many more have lost their lives at the cruel hands of the violence they so firmly denounced in both word and deed, to their very final breath and even though it meant the loss of their own lives. These lived their message of peace and nonviolent resistance to their death, so that someday we might follow the way of peace they showed us and finally set humanity free.

On this Martin Luther King Day I am making this post in honor of all these martyrs of truth and peace who gave their lives to show humanity a better way. And also in honor of all the others throughout history who both spread and lived this message of peace and love even without it costing their lives; from Mother Teresa hailing from the Ottoman Empire, to Leo Tolstoy in Russia, to Henry David Thoreau in America and many more forgotten heroes such as these.

Below are some of the concluding powerful words spoken by Martin Luther King Jr. in his final speech on April 3, 1968, the final public words of one true American hero; who lived a life of peaceful courage, a life dedicated to nonviolent resistance to injustice and oppression by civil disobedience, and who spoke strong words of truth which cost him his life:

Like anybody, I would like to live a long life; longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just wanna do God's will, and He's allowed me to go up to the mountain, and I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight, that we as a people will get to the promised land. So I'm happy tonight; I'm not worried about anything; I'M NOT FEARING ANY MAN! Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. - last words of MLK's final speech, April 3, 1968, one day before his murder on the evening of April 4, 1968... (emphasis mine)

And below is one of my favorite songs on the nonviolent revolution currently being ignited in America and even around the whole world against the imperial global oligarchy which has imprisoned the planet earth; which opens with a video of these last words of MLK from his final speech (much more powerful when you here them from the man himself) - Civil War by Immortal Technique, featuring Killer Mike, Brother Ali & Chuck D:

The only thing the 'New World Order' psychopathic controllers of this planet fear more than a widespread violent popular revolt, is a widespread nonviolent popular revolution, which is in reality already underway. These sick psychopaths who murder the most peaceful and loving human souls without a second thought, they fear love more than anything. And so they attempt to keep the masses in a constant state of fear and division, fear being love's greatest enemy, and courage along with truth her greatest allies. But united in love, as One, for truth, humanity will prevail against the greedy tyrants and violent men of power oppressing humanity and our entire planet, and then there will finally be peace on earth.
