Do not blame teachers when a child is not learning, they are not always at fault!
Two elements that play important roles in learning are children's intellectual capabilities and the teacher's ability to teach. They are often the focus of many discussions, journal articles and text books. But a real power is with the children, they have control and it is they who decide whether they want to learn or how much effort is put into their work.
Regardless of the parent's goals for their children's learning success, it is the kids who go to school trying to figure out how they fit into the classroom, whether they like the teacher and being in class, whether they understand the lessons and whether they want to learn.
Every child is different. A child may learn well all through schooling while another child may settle in quickly, happily motivated and then without warning in a few or more years there is a stoppage. Why? What has happened? The answer is not an easy one to unravel.
It might be due to a problem with the friendship circle, maybe bullying is taking place or maybe the teacher is yelling and giving putdowns or maybe the child is finding that the work in a new grade is too difficult. Or maybe the child is unwell with lots of tonsillitis infections. Or maybe the child/teenager has lost interest.
In high school, there are extra reasons. For example, the social networking through smartphones can be highly distracting taking any teenager away from concentrating on lessons. A myriad of socialising fun, mental health problems like depression, self harm and suicidal tendencies all take away the young person's want to learn.
Stay alert, keep talking to your child/teenager, a happy relationship can never be underestimated. Always know what is happening, never accept any secretive behaviour, keep alert and watchful of online upsets. Be ready to troubleshoot at the drop of a hat. Be quick because you are needed.

Morning janton, it is 5:51am in Queensland at the moment. Yes, there are lots of chapters on a number of topics around teachers and students. I am forever writing, haha.
