Featuring Symphony X

Hello again, metal Steemians, and the uninitiated. Here is another contribution to @detlev's #metalweekend. This is my second post, and for this week's post I will feature another band that plays a similar type of music as last week's featured band, albeit with a different lyrical theme.

Symphony X is an American progressive/power metal band from Middletown, New Jersey. The band consists of lead vocalist Russell Allen, guitarist Michael Romeo, keyboardist Michael Pinnella, bassist Michael Lepond, and drummer Jason Rullo.

The Songs

For this blog post, I chose three songs from the band's seventh album, Paradise Lost. It is a concept album loosely based on John Milton's 1667 similarly-titled epic poem, Paradise Lost.

Set the World On Fire

This song is about Lucifer's rebellion and the great Angelic War in Heaven between his faction of angels, and those who remained loyal to God. It's written from his point of view.

Domination

Up next is a continuation of Lucifer's story, his transformation into Satan, and his being cast down into Hell, along with his diabolical followers, after their defeat in the Angelic War.

Paradise Lost

And I end my selection with the album's title track. It's again written from Satan's point of view, and it deals with his inner conflict of being in awe of the beauty of God's creations in the Garden of Eden, especially Adam and Eve, how he could have loved them as an angel,

Mystified by her beauty
Does the hunter pity his prey
Under starless skies
All love must die, fade away

and finally becoming resolute in his decision of pushing through with his plans to destroy Man and continue his war with God.

And, that's it for this week's sampling of heavy tunes. This may be late for a weekend post, but I don't care. It's Christmas vacation already for a lot of us, anyway. The weekend got extended.

Before I close this, here's another metal picture of me. That dumbbell set weighs a total of 51-pounds.

That's how I see myself as a metalhead. It is about having an uncompromising attitude, being bad-ass at whatever you do, not just loving the music. But you don't have to be a metalhead to be bad-ass. Just be yourself.

So, until my next post, horns up, and keep on rocking!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you were entertained, and found this post informative, or even helpful in some way. God Bless you all, and have a nice day.
