Alzheimer's usually affects people over the age of 60 and begins with mild symptoms such as forgetfulness and language problems.

As the disease progresses, the symptoms worsen, as the patient may no longer be able to recognize his or her family members, or may have difficulties in speaking, reading, and writing. They may also forget how to perform simple routine tasks such as brushing and combing their hair.
