@make-a-whale is a community project to create a whale that always supports its feeders. You support it and it supports you. It upvotes each member once in a 22 hour period. @make-a-whale will post each day, that post needs to be upvoted by each member. There is also a bonus 100% rotational upvote.
To participate you need to post good original content, have a Reputation of 50+ and 500+ Steempower.

@theleapingkoala suggested we do share some more upvotes between members. Only on the posts that you really like and feel deserve an upvote. =)
Here is what we suggest:
All MAW members are encouraged to visit and upvote posts of 5 MAW members (upvotes are between 30%-100% using your judgment on the post)
Commenting and resteeming any MAW member's post are extra gestures that will be very appreciated and reciprocated.
The 5 MAW members that will receive daily upvotes will be chosen and updated every day (We can start from the top of the list and work our way to the bottom.)

Members Joining - One member a day
MAW will accept one member a day! We want to stick to one member a day because if we open the gates and too many users flood in our voting weight will diminish quite fast. Thus we want to grow slow and keep our upvotes to our feeders high.
UPVOTING RULES
The @make-a-whale project requires constant feed from his followers. That way he can return the favor and feed his followers. This can be done manually or using Steemvoter to simplify and automate the process. That way you never have to worry about missing votes.
You can pick how you upvote MAW:
1. Steemvoter (recommended).
Guide on how to set up your Steemvoter account.
2. Manual upvoting - if you do not like using Steemvoter you can manual vote.
We have worked out a scale that will make sure @make-a-whale always upvotes you with a bigger upvote than the one you used to upvote the daily post, if you post on average once a day. Thus, the fair scale ensure you always win!
There are some members who support the project with larger upvotes and this is greatly appreciated! The more we grow the more members we can recruit and give better upvotes. Thank you for the extra support!
MAW will check the upvotes each SUNDAY. Skipping more than 4 per week will result in a reminder. Failure to catch up before TUESDAY will result in being removed from the voting pool for the week. Thus, it will be your own responsibility to make sure your upvotes go through to the MAW posts. =)

Yeah, I think that is a good idea if we reward that with MAW because otherwise people - inlcuding myself - are easily distracted with other things. Steemit is just too big and confusing. So doing this within the MAW community will be great to bring us all closer together.
Agree with it 100%. Hard to keep up with everyone and everything, Steemit has become extremely cluttered and the feed is a catastrophe at the moment.
5 might be too many for me...I might have to reduce VP somewhere else...don't want to though.... but I don't mind giving it a try :)
We will stick to 5 but we can decrease the voting weights so we give everyone a little boost while not draining our voting power. =)

The suggestion is great but I just can't agree with the numbers. Voting between 30% and 100% on five people it's too much for me.
unless I stop voting for people who are with me since day one, and I will obviously not going to do that.

The idea is cool, but at the moment voting for 5 extra posts a day with 30-100% is too much for me. Just as @djynn mentioned - I would have to take it away from some of my friends I do support already.
My suggestion would be get to 3 people a day (instead of 5) and lower the vote strength.
Also would there be a way to see who participate in the program? It might happen that half of the member will upvote the daily featured users and the rest wont (but they will be featured too).
This was something I was concerned about too... Keeping track of who is helping out and who is freeriding will be hard... Will try and think of a possible solution for this... Have an idea in mind. Let me announce it in the next post =)
The easiest way would be that you post twice a day and redistribute the second post payout to the 5 featured, I guess

I am glad you are agreeing with this idea.
The voting power and the number of MAWs to be upvoted are just a suggestion,
you can upvote anywhere between 5-100% if you wish. As we build our SP, giving will be easier with less %.
Don't feel obliged to give high upvotes if you don't want to, but also don't forget that you will get upvoted as well :D
As for the number, we can start with 1 MAW if you wish (the same person that the bot upvotes everyday), but keep in mind that when the group gets larger, circulating through everyone will take longer.
Anyway, I am very happy to see more MAWs are willing to get involved in this initiative

I'm interested, at least give it a go to see if I can keep up with everything and upvotes. I started in July, have 800 SP and rep is 54. All content is my own, mostly outdoor activities (cycling), analysis on assets, some photo posts.
