I'm Confused Again! (Never Judge A Book By Its Cover)

in #matisyahu6 years ago (edited)

So when I would hear this song would envision Bob Marley or someone from the Caribbean.

The part I'm confused about is if Bob Marley originally wrote this song or if Matisyahu did? Maybe it was partially Bob Marley's lyrics and then Matisyahu added to it and made it his own?

Help me solve this mystery! Regardless it is an amazing song and Matisyahu can beat box with the best of them!

Beautiful song. Incredible voice. Thanks for sharing my man

Yeah it is pretty unreal for sure. One of those songs that will just grab you and make you want to chill on the beach all day!

Here's a cool video where this guy is playing the ukulele in a coffee shop singing and Matisyahu happens to be in the coffee shop listening and starts singing along

That video is epic because the guy didn't know who he was but knew who wrote the song. Hahhahaha What a crazy situation! LOL

Nothing beats Mike Ford at the Apollo

Hhaha, That was a riot. I used to listen to that song back in the day all the time too! He is a master of voices.

haha, I always like when someone surprises you with their voice or you dont expect a certain person to sing a certain way

My SBD's are on Matisyahu being the author. Mostly because they lyric sites seems to agree (for example, http://www.metrolyrics.com/one-day-lyrics-matisyahu.html) . He is considered a reggae artist (of which Bob Marley is the most well known). Searching YouTube can find more, such as "Matisyahu - Time Of Your Song" and "Matisyahu - King Without A Crown" both of which are also very reggae.

My findings are pointing the same ways as yours. I think the reason people put Bob Marley in the titles is to try to get more hits but I think it is Matisyahu 's song and Bob Marley was just a big influence for his music.

It is crazy how when I hear the song I'm imagining a rastafarian but in reality it is an American born guy from a traditional jewish background.

We should never judge a book by it's cover! Chill vibes all day and night! This dude has some skills!

Here's another interesting white reggae dude, I believe this guys from Canada, named Dylan Murray, I used to be into him a few years ago and totally forgot about him but this post made me remember and happenned to find a couple youtube videos and rememer his naem

That was a cool video. He was getting the respect!
