Cruising through Market Friday Challenge | Glutinous Rice fiesta
This is an inspiration from Denise @dswigle to join the #MarketFriday Challenge! If you haven't followed her yet; please do so now as she is one of those genuine encourages with a true heart and soul to support people on Steemit.
This is the one tag and weekly challenge that I try to make a point to join; not to mention that I'm also a fanatic when it comes to sight seeing or shopping in any form of market - indoors, outdoors, food, textile, accessories and etc.
This week's highlight on Market Friday is all about Glutinous Rice wrapped in lotus leave. I've seen this same stall week after week but never ever going close enough to see exactly what it is truly selling. Until just recently, when I had the courage to walk close to the stall; even then was because there were several other ladies standing in front; bargaining with the seller.
With a closer look, I realized that it is actually glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leave. There are several different types depending on the filling and type of lotus leave used. The ones we have here are red paste, lotus seed and some even have meat with salted egg.
I haven't gotten around to buying one to try; knowing that I wasn't going to be able to finish it up all by myself. Plus, I wasn't sure if it would taste the same as the ones back home. I keep thinking that the ones here are sweet and too huge for one person to eat.
Looking at the size of it, do you think you would give it a try ?
