Wrocław has the most bridges in Poland - padlocks, gnomes, a colorful city
On one of the bridges called Tumski, padlocks are hung.
The names of the lovers are written on the padlock, hanged on the bridge, and the key is thrown into the river as evidence of eternal love.
The most famous are in Paris and Venice, but this custom also came to Poland.
A beautiful symbol - noble love.
Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, of course!).
Innocent gnomes, cheerfully roaming around Wrocław, have their genesis in sad and gray times. Today, the city is full of colors and joy, but even 30 years ago Lower Silesia was one of the bastions of the anti-communist opposition. This hard time, when the atmosphere of hopelessness was bustling over Poland, tried to change the members of the Orange Alternative by painting gnome's images on the walls of the buildings.
In the 80s in Wrocław, the gnomes' paintings began to appear - small, unruly creatures were to mock the regime prevailing in the country. The first of them called Waldemar "Major" Fydrych. With time, dwarfs arrived in the whole city, and the Orange Alternative, whose leader became the Major, began to conduct humorous happenings.
Together with the previous system, they disappeared from the space of Wroclaw and dwarfs. For more than a decade, nobody remembered about the stumps with pointed caps. It was not until 2005 that they returned in the form of small sculptures by Tomasz Moczka and they were immediately loved by the inhabitants. To the extent that today you can count them three hundred small dwarves. Their guardians are private individuals, institutions and companies.
I'm not sure why I didn't recognize the fact that you have more bridges! I have been there many times and have truly loved the bridges. My lock hangs on there somewhere, but, I thought someone told me they took them all off!
I am happy to hear that I am still hanging. ;)
What a spectacular Market Friday post! Thank you!
Upped and Steemed
This is really amazing that you were there. Some of padlocks were taken away that is so true. I hope yours is still there.
Thank you my dear friend :))))
아름다운 폴란드 ...
Very nice old buildings in the background. Poor bridges! They would complain about the heavy padlocks on their shoulders!!
These padlocks are light, specially made for the needs of the bridge :)
Thank you very much
The gnome statue is very cute and I'd love a decorated heart, that looks great! Greetings my friend and have a nice day 😊
