Shopping in Porta Palazzo Market Turin Italy
Hi Dear Stemmit Community
This Summer in Turin is very hot and going to an open market during the morning as well. My idea of this post is to show you the largest outdoor market (actually is also indoor but I will show you below)in the city.
Porta Palazzo market is situated in the north-west part of the center of Turin. A large square named Piazza della Repubblica (Repubblc square) divided in four sections separated by two roads with only tramways and a circular road which surrounds all the sections.
(The buiding on the left side is the fish market)
Walking through this square and you can find a wide range of stands, stalls outdoor in coexistence with four indoor markets. Actually a fish market, a clothes market, a food market the clock market.
The list of the items you can find here is impressive and the cost is often economic. And also organic because there are also local farmers with their own stand.
(Cosmetics and priced French perfume)
(Clothes)
(Two further sections toward the cross with Via Milano and surrounded by the typical porticos in the center of Turin)
(Dry Tomatoes and Almonds from Puglia- and from Sicily)
(One of the entrances of the indoor food and the clock market)
(Coffee of the clock)
I sometimes have heard and aged people speaking French language. I supposed that they were not student but they came from somewhere close to the boarder (Turin is not far from the boarder with France) to buy some stuff in this market. Probably because it is cheaper than in their hometown I am not sure about that. However I was a bit surprised
I am sure that many people from different neighboorhoods like are coming to this market because is one of the cheapest in whole the city. Probably it is one of the cheapest market or maybe one of the cheapest..
I upload many photos don't I ? It is not finished I would show you more
Every saturday in the streets on the north – west of the square you can find a flea market and antiques the event is named Balon that is probably one of the reasons why it is told that Porta Palazzo is one of the largest outdoor market in whole Europe.
By the way It is not finished yet there is still the indoor clothes market
I would conclude my post with these photo of the square
(Clock building from the other side of the tramway)
If you visit Turin and you have time do not miss this market I think you will be impressed also by how multicultural most of the employment is. Many people who are working in the market is from Eastern Europe, North Africa and Eastern Asia, only few of them are from Latin America and Italy
All the photos are taken in Porta Palazzo market and they are my own property
Thank you for your attention
Best Regards
