Macro Bugs

Getting closeups of bugs is not a common thing I do especially if its a spider or something that might bite! However, I do make the occasional exceptions just because I feel like the photo would be super cool.

I couldn't really afford a proper macro lens, so I invested in some cheaper closeup filters which work pretty well considering the prices. It is a great alternative if you can't afford the more expensive camera equipment. With these photos, I use all of the filters together for the maximum strength and keep them on my 18-55mm lens which came with the camera. One thing that I recently started doing is turning up the aperture as I've noticed it doesn't always focus on the whole body of the insect and would either focus on a few bits of hair, antenna or something very minute and not the full body of the bug.

This guy I rescued from a tub of water it fell in and took some photos as it dried off on my finger. Once it had dried off I freaked out a bit as it looked like it was biting me. Not quite sure what it is; it might be a soldier fly what do you think?

This one traveled with a bag of strawberry plants we were given, hopefully not to eat them!

It's so fuzzy it didn't focus. My camera must have been overwhelmed with fuzz! I know I was!!
