If you've never had to say goodbye, you haven't loved enough. It's been a year of farewell's in my life too, actually that just reminded me of the perfect song.
(My daughter- who was one of my farewell's of this year as she is now residing in Charleston SC with her brother- took this video last fall when we were at the SPN con- picture's a little shaky, but the sound is good :)

My daughter was also one of my goodbyes this year. She moved to Nashville creating a beautiful new life. Gratefully I'm still connected to her, though I miss her greatly. She is one my steadies!!!

Other than location, I could repeat exactly what you just said! I am so happy for Zoe as she is really spreading her wings, and she calls me nearly every day for which I feel extremely lucky, because she is definitely one of my steadies and I miss her like crazy! We did good, we unconventional moms :)
