Liverpool fans are no doubt still celebrating the spectacular finish to the Merseyside derby on Sunday that saw Origi nod in the last minute goal to clinch the victory against neighbours Everton and keep up their sensational start to the season. But as we've officially entered the festive period where the games start to come around thick and fast the players won't have had much time to enjoy their heroics as their attention turns to traveling to Burnley for a mid-week late night game. Manchester City have once again ramped up the pressure by holding off a late Watford surge to see out a 1-2 victory and open the gap back up to 5 points, they have now played 15 games in the league and have yet to taste defeat and it is over to Liverpool to see if they can do the same and keep pace with the reigning champions.

Jurgen Klopp was charged for his celebratory sprint onto the pitch following the goal on Sunday but has accepted the punishment of a fine and will avoid a touchline ban. With the frequency of games over the coming weeks it is anyone's guess how sides will line up as managers look to use their entire squads to avoid injuries and wearing players out for the 2nd half of the season. Jordan Henderson is available after serving a ban for a red card and Adam Lallana should be fit giving Klopp a couple of extra options to midfield. The bad news coming from the derby on Sunday are the injuries to Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane, the left-back suffered a dead leg while Mane received a cut to his foot and both will be assessed ahead of Wednesday's game and could miss out. The hero from Sunday, Divock Origi may have earned a chance to get back into contention. His Liverpool career has been hampered significantly by injury but he is a player with obvious talent having been a regular member of the Belgian national team whenever fit.

Burnley are in poor form and come into the game on a run of 7 league games without a win and find themselves in the relegation zone with just 9 points from their 14 games. Steven Defour is out with a knee injury but Tarkowski may be brought back into the team after making his return from injury as a substitute last time out.

Liverpool may not have been blowing teams away as spectacularly as City but they have been battling away and snatching the all important results. Burnley have the potential to hang on and frustrate Liverpool but this season they have been really poor at home with the worst home record in the league this season, if The Reds can open them up and grab a goal early, this could potentially be the game the forwards can rack up some goals and notch up a big win.
