Litecoin was once an alternative for those who did miss the beginning of ASIC era and it was impossible to catch up, so they prefered Scrypt algo.

It is the first Altcoin but it doesn't bring added value over BTC. So the scissors of LTC:BTC were gaping since like 2014.

During era of Bitcoin tx costing over $50, Litecoin came back to the game as still, many have been familiar with it, owned couple of LTC and it was good supplement for smaller transactions (less than $1000).

But that's long gone, I wouldn't be investing in LTC, it will very likely just copy BTC and other crypto rise/fall trends.
