One of Life’s Game Changer

in #life7 years ago

The first moment where you could have possibly felt this was when your mother and father held you in their arms, gently whispering your name when they first saw you. It was followed by your grandparents’ concern and care that could have increased that desire of wanting you to be loved.

When you grew older, you felt this around your playmates when you first asked to be part of the team. But you stumbled and fell, making the team lose to the other group. However, they all know that it’s your first time so they let you kick that ball again since they hope that you get better next time.

Trembling hands of yours received that letter from that dream university that placed top for that degree program you always hoped to get in line with the career you have ever wanted. You know your parents told you that they were not pressuring you, but their looks hoped for that you get in. When you tore that neatly sealed white envelope, the three of you peeked and all shouted and cheered for joy at the top of your voices.

Every person in the campus wanted to look cool and awesome, but you have just adjusted with your roommates, the people in the dorm, classmates, coursemates, and almost every person that has been walking around. For some unexpected reason, the people you sat with the cafeteria talked to you and found that you were loved the same series that always look forward to every Tuesday. They invited you over to their place, and somehow you became part of the group.

It’s been weeks since you have been working on your paper. Last week your laptop fell and almost half of your computer’s memory was damaged. You then have been working on every free time that you could possibly have to make up for the missing data, photos, papers and discussion for that paper you need to finish. This will determine your graduation, as people call this phase as thesis. As you walked out of your professor’s room, you almost shouted, “This is it!” Indeed, #Thesisit

You have been walking to and fro along different companies and buildings, passing that six-page resume of yours, hoping that you might get a call for that dream job you always aimed for. It has been seven weeks since you started this journey of wearing your best suit and tie attire, resting on convenience stores after trying to submit requirements with full of hope. However, that hope is slowly being led to the drain. As you stood up, a ringtone arrives to your phone. Upon ending the call, you lift instead of dragging your feet as you walk in the best posture you can be, almost screaming,

“Accepted!”

Most of the time, we want this state. Somehow, we feel secure when we know that we are accepted. However, there are times where we should make others feel accepted.

A few of these include situations that could have raised your blood pressure for the whole day or made you extremely happy that if someone were to ask you if you could buy them dinner you could immediately answer ‘yes’. You might have thought of accidents that you never thought would ever happen to you, but they barged into the door of your life without you even realizing. Desirable or not, there are situations that should be accepted.

Other times, there are people who you consider to be annoying and a pain. It might be that grumpy personnel at the convenience store nearby, your relative, people that do not seem to understand you, or someone you met on the way and stepped on your foot without even giving an apology.

Another person you should accept is yourself. Maybe you don’t like that crooked teeth you see when you face the mirror, the way you react when your boss talks to you, your voice that goes off-key even though you loved singing even just in the shower, the thought process you end up when someone makes your heart flutter, or the record that you failed in another task that you worked hard but completely went out of the way. There are flaws, scars, imperfections or perhaps an incapability, but these factors all work to be who you are. Accepting yourself might be hard, but once you have accepted yourself, it changes your perspective to life.

Acceptance to whatever that comes in your life might be difficult and long that it might take years. But when you have reached this stage of acceptance, it can become one of life’s greatest game changers.
