Give priority to what matters most to you

in #life7 years ago

While traveling through the country, the Marquess of the Kingdom of Wei, saw a man who wore a skin coat with hair inward, and loaded with a bundle of firewood.

  • Why do you use the leather out to carry the firewood? - asked the marquess.

  • To protect the hair - was the answer.

  • Do not you realize, man - said the marquess - that if the leather is worn out, he will also lose his hair?

This little fable teaches us a great lesson about priorities. Many of us sometimes make the mistake of not organizing our priorities, giving more value to banal things and subtracting things that are really important to us. The man who carried the firewoods did not want to damage the skin he was wearing, but in his ignorance, he placed the leather (which shapes and holds the fur on his skin) adrift.

We must always be able to see further and notice what is at the base of everything we want, what sustains everything we value from the bottom, because when we neglect those bases, everything what we want may fall, and inevitably fall.
