Hunger, affecting more than a billion people in our world?

in #life6 years ago

UN officials say that despite the record level of people suffering from hunger, food aid remains at its lowest level in 20 years because of the weak global economy, resulting in more than 1 billion people worldwide suffering from hunger this year.

"The most vulnerable people in this world will be struck by an ideal storm," said the World Food Program's executive director, WEP. "The organization has received less than half of this year," sheeran said. To feed 108 million people in 74 different countries around the world, an average of $ 6.7 billion

Few people know about the importance of eating problems caused by hunger for long periods. Others think it is common to hear the sound of stomach contractions caused by hunger and the pain we feel when we are late to eat or not eat a meal. Most people, especially those in developing countries.

What causes hunger?

The effects of acute hunger on people who suffer from it can be measured in different ways, most notably: undernourishment and malnutrition.

Undernourishment often occurs when people do not get enough calories to provide them with the energy to be able to fulfill their physiological needs, even if they are the lowest. Malnutrition is a measure of what people eat, how not quantity, it happens when people get (WEP), proteins and micronutrients such as vitamins and other important ingredients in their food.

Malnutrition is measured according to the physical parameters of the body, for example: The length and weight are measured at a specified age, and unfortunately malnutrition leaves severe effects on the body, including the following:

Obstructing growth in children.
The acute and significant decrease in the weight of children compared to their normal weight in their age.
Wasting, and weight loss.
Lack of vitamins and minerals of the body, such as iron, which causes (Anemia - anemia).
Aggravate problems of weight and lack of minerals, and turn it into a disease.
Malnutrition is not always a major problem in meeting the needs of the body. It may be a secondary problem because of the inability of the body to get nutrients from food, because it is infected with diarrhea or any other disease

The lack of vitamins or minerals affects the human body, and can record some effect of each vitamin or mineral if deficiency, as follows:

Iron deficiency: This type of deficiency is caused by malnutrition, the most common deficiency in the world, affects billions around it, and its effect is on the growth and development of the brain.
Vitamin A deficiency: This deficiency affects about 140 million under-school children in 118 countries around the world. It causes blindness, weakens the immune system, makes it more susceptible to disease, and kills one million infants a year. UNICEF.
Iodine deficiency: This deficiency affects 780 million people around the world. Newborns suffer from mothers who have this lack of mental difficulties or mental illness.
Zinc deficiency or zinc: This deficiency causes about 800,000 child deaths each year; it weakens the immune system of young children.

Who is hungry?

Although there is enough food to fill the hunger of the entire human race, there is still a hungry person in this world estimated to be about a sixth of the Earth's population, nearly one billion people, a vast number more than the population of America, Canada and the European Union.

"We urgently need an additional $ 3 billion to meet the needs of these people, which is less than 0.01 percent of what was placed on the table of global economic stability," says Sheeran.

Natural disasters such as floods and droughts are one of the causes of hunger for people in the region where these factors have occurred. This is catastrophic. Emergency situations can not be quickly and effectively resolved; in this case only 8% of hungry people around the world The most severely affected, mostly women, children and rural people, according to the WEP.

Most of the hungry people in the world are in Asia and the Pacific, where they make up half of sub-Saharan Africa, where they account for about a quarter - according to WEP - 65% of them live in six countries: India, China, Republic of the Congo Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Ethiopia. Some statistics are available from the World Food Program (WEP), which monitor the effects of hunger and what causes, if any, some of them:

Some 146 million children in developing countries were estimated to be underweight.
Every 6 seconds a child dies because of hunger and its associated causes.
More than 60% of people suffer from chronic hunger, most of them women.

Trends on hunger.

High food prices reject the efforts of aid programs that have been very successful in the fight against hunger in the late 20th century and prevent them from starving the world, except Latin America and Carbines.

The rise in the price of food leads to an increase in the number of hungry people (75 million in 2007) and 40 million in 2008. Fighting war, climate change, poverty, poor agricultural practices and excessive use of agricultural resources contribute to increasing hunger in the world. About the experts.

What can be said at last is that there is no problem with a solution with it. In this case, malnutrition and its hunger-related deficiency can be fought in several ways, including:

Improving water resources.
General and personal hygiene.
Health education and health awareness.
Improving access to healthy food for the poor.
Insurance of agricultural and industrial progress, according to the World Health Organization.
