You should try magnet fishing. Get a 150 pnd pull margnet, string and toss the magent off that bridge and see what metsl objects you find.
I have heard of that, and I do have a co-worker who is into metal detecting who has considered it!
It's fun. Here in Chicago, I go with my son to the Chicago River down town and Fish for metals. In Europe, its big. People find WWII weapons etc.
