Inner demons don't play by the rules'

Too little emphasis is put on building our internal value in the system that we seem trapped in.
Why is it that status, money, beauty has gained more importance than working on our inner selves?
Regardless, all these things are finite. In other terms, there's a limit to how much money, beauty, status, material one can have.
But becoming your better self, there's no limit to that.
You can work at it every single day of your life until the end.

Still to this day, I wonder why it is that schools don't teach us about stuff that can actually better us as human beings.
They'd rather leave that up to us to figure it out on her own, and in all honesty, it hasen't done much good.
Divorce rate is only going up.
Genuine people are still hard to find.
Recognition and praise are not used often enough.
Kids are getting more anxious than ever in the current school system.

Life doesn't come with an instruction book, but let's be real for a sec.
Humans need some guidance when it comes to many aspects of life.
And if schools don't teach that, well a lot of us will leave that up for the media, and that one can do a lot of damage.
Not to mention that it already consumes much of our time, and it's not like it does so in a very positive light.
We're all glued to this tiny device that seems to do more wrong than good.

Here's some piece of evidence that I took from from the amazing book written by Frances E. Jensen called
"The teenage brain: a neuroscientist's survival guide to raising adolescents and young adults."

A member of the International Center for Media and the Public Agenda (ICMPA) at the University of Maryland partnered with the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change to conduct the survey.
What they did is that they asked a thousand students in twelve countries to write about their 24 hour period of media abstinence.

Here is what some of these students who took part in the experiment had to say.

"I began going crazy."

"I felt paralyzed -almost handicapped in my ability to live."

"I felt dead."

"I felt as though I was being tortured."

"Unplugging... felt like turning off a life-support system."

"Emptiness. Emptiness overwhelms me."

I don't know about you, but this sounds extremely alarming to me.
Not to mention that a week ago, my tutoring student told me that a girl younger than her (7 years old) already had an iphone.
I was shook.
I personally had my first phone when I could afford one, and that was when I turned 18 years old.
To be honest, I wouldn't have minded getting it much later than that.

Tolerance. Empathy. Kindness. Respect. Love. Acceptance.
These are all values that should be instilled in us from a very young age.

"You spend your whole life looking for answers, because you think the next answer will change something, maybe make you a little less miserable.
And you know that when you run out of questions you don't just run out of answers, you run out of hope."
