Success, as we know, is a continual process. Well if you didn’t know, now you know. It involves growth and development. It is achieving one thing and then using that as a stepping stone to accomplishing something better. It's like growing an empire from the tiny grains of sand. When it comes to success, there is no stopping place, it happens a day at a time and it can continue for a lifetime or end in a moment. It all depends on your approach to it.

For every day you wake up healthy and strong, you're in the process of becoming and what you eventually become depends on what you give to yourself. If you desire to succeed, there are tons of books to read on success. But there are a few things they all have in common. I will shed light on them and would love you to reflect on them as you read.

Commitment

In other, for you to succeed, you ought to be committed. Therefore, how committed are you? Robert Browning said,

Why stay on earth, except to grow?

Make a commitment to grow daily and I bet you, it won't be long before you begin to encounter real change. Remember to box up procrastination and focus on what you set your mind to do. Do it so much and research on how to do it better. Keep up with trends in that area, commit yourself to it and a change would come.

Value

As an individual that aspires for success, there's need to value the process more than the product. Certain events or challenges you come across may be helpful in making your decision but note that it is the process that shapes you, it is the process that matures you into becoming what you ought to be. So cherish the process, because the best lessons on how to weather the storms of the future are learnt here.

Inspiration

Yes, it's good to be inspired but sometimes you don't have to wait for inspiration. Some people sit ideally by waiting for the idea to drop from heaven. It just would not. If you are in-between crossroads on a decision, then dive into it. Research, learn, the solution is always in doing, not waiting. Some are blessed to get the inspiration for what they want to do in life. Others are not, that doesn’t mean you should sit and wait.

Also note that it takes discipline to attain success, inspiration without discipline is nothing. Discipline carries you through, it paves way more than you can ever imagine.

Payment

Some of you might be wondering what payment entails in this context. Well, in other for success to come forth, you have to pay. What I mean here is that, when you see something that can develop you, something that if you partake in can make you outstanding among your peers. Then pay the price for it, it could be money, it could be time, either way, it's advisable you pay. Pay now and enjoy greater rewards later and those rewards always taste sweeter.

Avoid thinking of Limitations

When you're working on yourself to succeed in life, there's need to wave-of the thoughts of limitations. When you think about them, you create them but when you don't, you go beyond them. Why? Because your potentials are limitless.

Time

Learn to master your time, or you'll not succeed.

A minute spent in planning will save you two in execution.

Make every moment count since lost times cannot be recovered.

The secret to success is found in your daily routine. Examine yours today.

Also, it’s one thing to work hard and it’s another to work smart. Take time to sharpen your skill set, if you don't stay sharp, you'll be left behind. The opportunities meant for you, will go to others and thus end up as a qualified relic with outdated skill sets.

_{There's the story of a man who got upset because he didn't get a promotion and he confronted his boss asking him the reason why he wasn't promoted. He said to his boss that it wasn't fair since he's got 25 years’ experience. His boss replied him saying, "no, you've had one year's experience over and over again for the past twenty-five years!”}

Repeating the same lessons over and over again means you're not learning enough, there's need for you to reach beyond yourself. Learn from others higher than you are, don't shrink away from people whose experiences and expertise are greater than yours.

Diversity threatens only the narrow-minded.

Don't try to impress people by seeking to be their intellectual equal. When you find yourself in a discussion that intimidates you, listen carefully and ask questions, talk only about what you know.

If you must be successful, you must work on yourself continuously and every day because the more you prepare yourself, the more God-given opportunities will come your way.
