I barely passed the 10th grade, I ended up having to resort to getting a GED after that due to past truancy and custody issues (at 17-18....) trying to enroll into a new school and being denied.
Supposedly the GED tests are more difficult than the high school graduation exams. I aced the GED and scored well above average in all subjects.
Now what does that tell you of the Public Education System?
