Life Lessons We Can Learn From Stranger Things

Stranger Things is a highly acclaimed science fiction-horror TV show and although I don't watch too many horror movies or shows (read zero), I couldn't skip this one for obvious reasons. (It's sci-fi).

Anyways, over the last week I got to finish the first season of the show (couldn't binge watch this even though I wanted to really bad), and I must say I can see why people like this show so much.

It's got all the great elements to get people hooked which was evident from the very first episode and I couldn't believe I had been puting watching this off for over a year now.

But I'm glad I finally did, as it is not only entertaining, but we can also learn some great life lessons from it that I want to talk about today. Fair warning though, there will be spoilers ahead!

Friends Are The Best

The story of Stranger Things revolves around this group of friends that seem to be misfits who stick together despite everything. When one of the friends of the group is abducted by an inter-dimensional being, none of them leaves any stone unturned to get him back.

All that despite them being barely teenagers! Now that speaks of the true friendship they have and the love and care they have for each other. They even put their own lives in danger to save their friend.

That is why friends are the best and hold a special place in anyone's life. We don't need to have a ton of friends. Just a few good ones will do for your entire life. Keep them close and never let go.

Things May Not Be What They Seem

The entire conspiracy in the first season revolves around this alternate dimension called 'The Upside Down" where one of the characters gets stuck after being abducted by a monster living in that realm.

It is revealed slowly that a laboratory nearby the town where the main characters live, is involved into all sorts of shady experiments and is the reason the monster from the alternate dimension is able to abduct humans from their reality.

All this was uncovered only when the police chief and other characters investigated deeply, often ignoring what 'seemed' to be true. Things may not always be what they seem and we should always try to get to the depth of the truth.

A Little Intuition Goes A Long Way

Sometimes we get a feeling about things and events that we cannot explain by the use of logic. In those moments, we just know what we have to do or what is right and wrong. We just know it.

In the show, Joyce, the mother of the abducted boy, somehow knew that he was still alive even when they had found a body (a fake one) that the conspirators tried to prove was the actual boy's body.

Joyce followed her intuition that led to the recovery of her son. We too should always listen to our gut feelings because sometimes logic doesn't work. It might seem counter-intuitive at first, but it more often than not, turns out to be the right decision.

Always Be Honest

There is a huge focus on honesty among the group of friends in Stranger Things. Time and time again they repeat that 'friends don't lie' and it goes to show how important honesty is.

Also, the missing boy could have been found much easier if the various groups of people looking for him had just been honest about doing so and the clues that they had found. Lying to each other made it take more time.

Anyways, in life we should always be honest no matter what. Lying will only cause you to lie more to cover up the previous lies and it will stress you out actually. Just tell the truth. It's that simple.
