Pabthings (Vol. 1): To buy or not to buy.

I have been writing a series of everyday blog posts in Spanish called "Pabladas". This is supposed to be the English version of it. Depending on the mood and time I will be written entries in one language or the other.

I was trying to search for a good term for the word "Pabladas" which actually, as you can imagine, does not exist. "Pabladas" is that sort of thinks that I think or say.

The series is not intended as a translation but as an "extension". It is supposed to be an everyday blog, and therefore not long in extension. But you never know how it will come.

Normally it will also include some steemit related fact or information, since as you might know, we (@gargon and myself) are also witnessing the network with the user @cervantes which is at the same time our vehicle to curate, promote and support spanish writen content in the platform since almost one year.

I hope you enjoy the series and i hope i can keep on it.

My wife asked me today to take the children out since she had to do some work at home and needed some quite hours. We got into the car and quickly decided to go to the best place to spend a rainy Sunday morning:

This is the leading consumer electronics retailer here in Germany (and in most other european countries). Something like Best Buy in USA: a nerd`s paradise.

I love it. My children love it.

There are plenty of fun electronic devices ready to be discovered and tested by the customer: photo cameras, drones, smartphones, tv's, computer games, tablets, macs, smart lights....

My son "needed" - so he said - to test the Oculus Rift:

There is plenty of reviews here on steemit about the oculus, such as this, this or this on so 'm not going to go into the technical details.

Only to mention that I tested it as well and to be honest, you need a good stomach for playing it. It is like your brain can not be completely fooled by that immersive stereoscopic experience and in some cases it just gives up. The fact is that after a couple of minutes I looked like this little green guy:

I' m not sure if Ernest Cline' s vision of the future is going to become a reality without a technology that really simulates the immersion into actual acceleration and rotation forces applied to your body in the same manner as they would be applied when actually accelerate or rotate.

Until that technology arrives, I`ll rather wait....

• I was having an interesting discussion with other witnesses about the fact that today, given the high price of the SBD you get more STEEMS out of your payout if selling your SBD for STEEM in an external exchange such as poloniex. Doing that, it also help to reduce the SBD buying presure and therefore reduce its price. During this conversation it was also suggested why the payouts could not be optional be given 100% in SBD to even increase more its supply. My opinion is, that provididing 100% of the payouts in liquid tokens will be agains the fundamental principels of the platform and the original white paper, where the users are "force" to hold Steem Power, to be able to particpate in the social network with a higher impact.

• I' m also testing HF19 in one of ours servers. I have not yet signed any block since I have not yet switched @cervantes to it. But steemd 0.19rc2 seems to be running stable as a seed. I also support the changes included it in it and im looking forward to see the impact of the new linear post payout distribution curve.

[ES] Sumario para los que no entiendan una papa.

En este artículo hablo sobre nuestra última visita al Mediamarkt y las primeras impresiones de este artilugio maquiavélico de realidad virtual llamada Oculus Rift el cual no estoy muy seguro si comprar o no, porque mi estomago acabó jugándome una mala pasada. Tambíen hablo de alguna discusión sobre los Steem Dollars y como disminuir su precio así como sobre mis ultimas pruebas con el último HF.

Lo escribo en inglés para que a) estos angloparlantes se enteren de mi vida y mis movidillas. b) caiga algún voto que otro de alguna ballena perdida en el oceano y c) mejore mi inglés, que siempre hace falta.

Por cierto habéis visto lo de los últimos atentados de Londres? Que pasada...en qué mundo vivimos.
