Making Money Online Is Tough

I was just reading the blog of someone who was encouraging their readers to take the plunge and quit their job and make money online. Of course you will be needing the help of their $500 course as well as the products she's pushing like hosting your site at what every unbiased person says is a crappy server.

The said blogger is doing very well by all accounts, but i'm not sure about her followers though. How many people can be Kim Kardashian - getting paid millions for a vapid existence?

Just look at Steemit

Back at the highs of the year, a decent writer with a decent following on Steemit could afford, if they lived frugally, to make a living out of posting once or twice on the platform. Of course, as with everything online, that was to be short-lived.

If you're in affiliate marketing, you'd have also noticed how the sales have dried up and the margins have thinned. Part of it is increased competition, but there's also the changing technology landscape with ad-blockers and affiliate-skimming.

Teaching people how to make money

One thing i've noticed has been a proliferation of 'teach you how to make money' courses that have been sprouting up all over the place. An acquaintance of mine introduced me to his professor at a reputable university charging $5,000 for a two day session (iirc) with a money back guarantee if the attendee doesn't make $500,000 in the two years following the course.

Just remember, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" and "a fool and his money are soon parted."

Yes, "making money online is tough" indeed, I totally agree with you.

I used to be Amazon affiliate, like you. The sales have dried up and the margins have thinned, as you said.

Good article and thank you for sharing. ;)
