I Have Nothing to Write About So I'll Just Tell My 3000 Followers I Have 3000 Followers Now Because I'm Captain Obvious

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Of course, there's more to this post than that. What's inside is a secret though.

First, thanks for following along.

NoNamesLeftToUse - Success.jpeg

Are You Crazy Yet?

I've been trying to drive you crazy.

Has it been working?

I don't say much about the art you see here, there and everywhere within my blog posts. Not a word.

That image up there that says, "Success," tells a different story.

Sure, I'm happy to have a small army of people following along, watching my every move(that's a lie, most don't look); so I do feel somewhat successful.

That's a picture of a fang sinking into some flesh because it has a thirst for blood though. It has nothing to do with you and why you're here. The perspective is from inside a mouth and behind the fang. Nobody knew that, until now.

I Like Chopping Up the Bodies

When I'm finished with you.

It's Done.jpeg

Those were the days.

There's a reason why they call them, "Dead followers."

Its Done 2 - Copy.jpeg

I've been taking them out, one at a time, since the beginning. It's actually getting easier.

These days, all I have to do is smile, tell a joke or a silly little innocent story. Boom! Gotcha!

Its Done 3 - Copy.jpeg

I think this happens because I get bored. Followers are okay, I guess.

Usually the first ones to get it come from the, "nice post," crowd.

Nobody seems to miss those ones or even notice when they're gone. That makes life easy for me.

Its Done Asshole Edition - Copy.jpeg

That clown didn't even see it coming.

I love my followers so much that I take their hearts away so I can have more love.

To me, this is normal. Nobody questions me because nobody knows.

Its Done 5 - Copy.jpeg

This is why I have 3000 followers but only about 100-200 views and a handful of votes.

It's my fault. I don't mind. They had it coming.

This follower used to come to my blog and say nice things just for a vote on his comments.

Its Done 6.jpeg

I voted him straight into the wood chipper. That made the coolest sound, ever.

To get more eyes on my work, I just take their eyes.

It's Done Hit 7.jpeg

I saved a lot of money getting views like that. That's why I can have nice things.

It's Done Hit 8.jpeg

I don't know what or who that was. Sometimes I get a bit too close with the camera. You know how it is. I'm sure you've chopped off a few heads in your day.

Just So You Know

That stuff you saw, the story; it's not real.

Thanks for following along. It's the real me talking now.

When I started blogging here, I wanted to do something different. I'm a creative content producer. I can't be anything else. I was told, "In order to be successful here, you must add value to the platform."

I decided to be original and create my own stuff because anything else can be Googled, for free. We can read opinions about things, for free. I thought the only way to bring value to the table was to create something exclusive to this platform so people have to come directly here to see it. I thought that would be good for business, good for everyone. I still think it's true.

Nearly everyday, when I'm here, I'm showcasing my talents and I do that to entertain you. Entertainment, in general, is a huge draw.

I've been working hard. I want to continue working hard.

Without your support, I'm nothing, and I know that.

Moving forward, I'll be focusing on my blog, my performances, my writing, my art. No more distractions.

I also plan to change my curation habits. Just a few minor tweaks. I'd like to reserve more of my voting power to go towards other content producers and their blog posts. Don't come here expecting a vote on your comment anymore. Some folks were taking advantage of that generosity and ruined it for everyone. I'll still vote for comments. I just won't vote for sycophants. Those daily compliments from the same people were really starting to get on my nerves and I'd sooner just ignore it now. I think that's fair, especially when I look around and notice so many actual content producers struggling. They deserve the help. So, if you're fake, fake off before you end up looking like that mess above.

I'm done rambling.

Again, thanks for all of your genuine support over the past many, many months. Though it's starting to dry up, I plan on pushing forward and remaining loyal to this place, you folks, and myself.

Have a nice day.

Just to be clear: If you don't get a vote on your comment, that doesn't automatically mean I think you're an ass kisser. It means I'll have more vote power to use for your posts if I like them. I can't afford to vote for every comment at such high voting power AND vote for posts anymore so don't take it personally. Things could change when the value goes back up.

if "nice post," crowd are the easy ones, any chance you could scroll through the comments on my posts?

Don't worry, no daily compliments coming from me!

I suppose I could get Nancy out of the garage, put in a new blade, grab the extension cord, and be right over. If you can, please put a few old bed sheets on the floor. Towels and plastic work too. That makes cleaning up so much easier.

I almost feel like a tool for giving you four thumbs up now; but you know what I mean!

I'd like to reserve more of my voting power to go towards other content producers and their blog posts.

[applause]

Upvoting your commenters is nice, and part of the purpose of upvoting is to reward people for being good Steemians and I think that's good stuff.

However, the ugly truth is that upvoting comments doesn't help put good stuff on trending. Maybe it should; maybe the ranking should take into account the total rewards of the entire conversation. I don't think so though. I think that's a terrible idea actually, because I have already thought of about three ways to abuse it. There's enough abuse around here already.

"Sycophant"-- this is probably the third time you've used that word recently and finally I couldn't deal with the ambiguous context clues anymore. I had to know. So I looked it up:

A person who acts obsequiously towards someone important in order to gain advantage.

"Obsequiously?" WTF? Speak English, dictionary!

obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree

Oh. So in layman's terms, a suck up. Good thing I don't do that sort of thing.

In conclusion... Nice post! You are a very creativity! Very good job! Wow this is the best post ever! Good value! Low effort comment! Such very creative! Much wow! Liked and subscribed! You are a good person! Copious validation! God bless you! Animated GIF! Steem On!

3% will be the maximum and you just got it. I think I'll knock that down to two though. I'm still working out the kinks. That nickel will be worth more someday anyway. I was raising my vote power to make up for the falling value of my vote, thinking people would feel less valued if I gave less. Well, fuck that, they're just going to have to learn that I value the real ones as people and the fake ones can kiss my ass. Too much of that sucking up nonsense going on around here anyway.

It's a good time for everyone to start paying attention to each other again. A good time to offer incentives to perform well. A damn good time to ignore all of the fakes and those looking for shortcuts as well. It's their fault the place started falling apart, the word is out, and I'm seeing a gradual shift in thought process. These people want to make millions, not thousands. They're learning the hard way; there's no point taking shortcuts. Time to learn from those mistakes and move on. It's time to responsible with this investment and do things the easy way. The obvious way. I'm rambling.

Well fine, if you're gonna reduce your voting power and revert to sustainable voting practices, I'll just have to reduce my effort. I've been working on my perfect leech comment. I'm thinking about going with this one:

I've spent about 10 seconds in Google Image Search so far and man, I'm exhausted. I'm thirsty. I need a beer. How do you people do this effort thing? But I think I did a Good Job. It's going to be hard work copying and pasting that link to every single post on #introduceyourself, but I think I'm up to the task! I won't let me down!

In fact, I think I even deserve a nice self-vote for a job well done.

Woooaaaah. I'm talking way too much for something you're not going to upvote. You're not going to upvote this, right?

Please? You ruined the joke last time!

Let's compare e-penises. I have 6000 followers.

My content is worth a vote though. :)

I win!

Our pride. Our boss @neoxian sir.

Oh, defeated by Dr. Swirley. I'll get you next time...next time...

Your photoshopping Kung Fu could use a little work.

Bro i didn't use photoshop, i have used https://imgflip.com/memegenerator, if you want to use and see how Kung Fu is, you can do it :D

And I know you!
So now, I have 6000 + 349 followers.
I win.

Are your services for hire? I have over 1200 followers but I'd like a few of them to..."disappear." That wood chipper did some lovely work. I'm trying to find someone to rid me of some spammers. I'd pay extra if you let me watch you toss them in the wood chipper.

I could probably arrange something.

In reality though, just tell them to get lost. In a few of my recent posts you can see me fly off the handle on a few people. I'll admit, part of that is due to some stress I've been under and if you give me an excuse to treat someone like shit when I'm like this, I'll do it. I don't care how bad I look because I know I'm doing the right thing and I have a tendency of fighting fire with flamethrowers.

It's not a sinking ship yet, just some holes that could be patched up. Hopefully will be because the thought of starting over somewhere else is exhausting. Either way, the one ship I don't abandon is friendship. lol. That was fucking corny ;) I'll leave you with a song about a fish and a whistle:

They can fix it, we can fix it, or, lose everything. The answer is easy so there's nothing left to say.

Please do break it down for me, if it's easy I'm all for doing whatever it is.

I've been breaking it down since December. Nothing changed, it got worse. Far worse.

It got so bad, I had to step in and stop an idiot from duping new members into losing a shit-ton of money doing something that I don't even want to mention because it looking more and more like a plot to bring the place down. Nobody else was saying anything. Nobody else was standing up for the place or the people. Everyone sat on their hands. I'm done talking about it. I don't want to talk about it. I just want to do my thing.

Fair enough.

My thoughts are in chat.

What kind of perverted massacre is this here? I'm still trying to get away from that turtle that popped out of your Easter egg this afternoon and I come to see this?

Anyways, it's true we can't afford upvoting everything just for the sake of good manners. It's more useful to save that VP for a striving minnow instead of someone that seeks for paid comments. I have also thought to stop leaving as many comments in older users and give some encouragement to people whose posts look more deserted than the desert (not enough time to keep curating on everyone)

Yes. I've decided to take things even further. Things are going to get weird again around here, I hope.

As for curating. It's not all about supporting minnows for me now. I'll still help when I can but I'm seeing established people struggling as well. I want to spread it around to everyone. Then there are some established bloggers who post, they get paid well from auto votes, but their views are low and nobody is commenting. I think I'll push the slider down for posts like that, because I think they've become complacent and take their rewards for granted whereas I'm still battling, this many months later. I'd sooner see them contributing more. I'm sitting here with 115 views and half of the rewards some people get automatically for 10 views. They need to step up their game to see more from me and what I take away is going to someone who's at least trying to get better. When it comes to the older users, that's the ones I'll be shying away from. There are many of us who've been here for a long time and still battle like we're fresh off the boat.

I am trying to support minnows that I think deserve it (especially some artists and a few other people I like) just because I want to give them motive to stay around here.

As for those big auto-voted posters, yeah, I've stopped giving my votes to them a long time ago and give their share to others that may be a lot happier by seeing my 0,1-0,4$ added on their total rewards. The longer I stay here and watch the more my perspective changes and so does my voting and curating "tactics"

One of the hardest things to get rolling is encouraging minnows to vote for each other as well. These new folks need to build roads and relationships. Teamwork seems to be frowned upon for some strange reason. Everything like that gets labelled "circle jerking" like we're supposed to vote for someone only once and never look at their work again. In society we have social circles and people work better in groups. Some of these groups need to open up a little bit though. They take care of each other, get nice rewards, but if they protect it too much, it will dry up. Give and take. Can't just take.

This is exactly the problem we are trying to solve within the steemstem community I'm a member of. You can't just expect to take from someone who was worked so much and has been rewarded so little (compared to the effort they have put all this time). You are supposed to build a "micro-environment" to live in, give and take. You can't make it on your own. Build a social circle, stick within it, in time leave those people that you don't like behind, but try to meet new ones as well.

I agree, overprotection and elite-clique circle jerking get you stagnant. What's the point of experimenting and trying to get better if you are guaranteed the votes from your clique or whale sponsor for example? You can just shitpost all day and still make more than others working their asses off and getting crumbs for it... (deja vu, I think I've told you that before)

I am giving my heart voluntarily hahaha, keep up the good work, I always enjoy your posts!!

I know you do. Some people say that and it means nothing. More have proven themselves to be honest than fake so I suppose that's worth mentioning. I pay attention!

Well I agree, personally I said that because I strongly believe it, in other circumstances I wouldn't have commented at all. I appreciate the originality in your posts! Push forward and be loyal to yourself :)

That's the plan.

You can always count on me! Don't forget that time with the orange juice that I saved a Canadian hahaha

I don't forget the orange juice incident. It's still a freshly squeezed memory within my mind.

Murdering fakes for fun meng! Congrats on the milestone, when I checked you were even on lucky nr 3013 followers. You deserve the attention, you provide food for thought, entertainment, creativity and you are a supporter to many. True, the point is to be selective, but being a good dude's in your nature. Keep it real!

I just have to tone it down, man. I want to help everyone who shows up but it's not working out and this SP can be put to work helping more if I do it right.

I've been getting a lot of advice from people lately as well. I need to focus, otherwise people will stop looking altogether. The future is important and making the right choices now goes a long way.

That's true, quality over quantity is usually the better course of action! Take good advice, but also remember that following your intuition got you were you are today, that's the way of the creative. Just check out your following, you have created loyal support. Upgrading your strategy as you go, evolving as you grow, is definitely necessary for survival though. Power to you.

Lots of red in the work today, hmmm.

I like your idea of shifting away from generously upping the comments section on your posts to beefing up curation. My hope (one of my reasons for being here) is that creative communities grow and support one another. I'm not a fan boy. I'm not a follower of big names. I fucking hate celebrities. I celebrate the deaths of elitists. I like real people, normalish types that can make shit, create things, have interesting ideas, know how to innovate and don't feel it necessary to jerk off in the public arena just to massage their own ego.

Hopefully Steemit is about creating communities, evolving the idea of peer-to-peer transactions to the next level. I'm pretty newish here, but my goal is to (of course write my fiction) but to also reach out and connect with other creatives, collaborate and hopefully improve human exchange in my infinitely small way.

These images all come from a series known as It's Done. I'm a twisted hitman in those posts and I play mind games with people, for fun.

I have to manage the voting power better. People were earning more here than on some of their posts. That's backwards and it has to change. I don't have the resources to vote for both anymore.

The upcoming communities thing might work and help create a better atmosphere for us all. I can see it working now that I've put more thought into it. I used to be against it because I always pictured this place as a park full of buskers and it worked like that until the corporate types showed up to drown everyone out with their noise and pay-per-view system of the old days. Communities won't tolerate people trying to steal the spotlight using shady tricks, so I can honestly say things are looking up. Hopefully that feature comes soon though because people are dropping like flies.

Just hang in there, ignore the riffraff. That's what I keep telling myself now.

Ahh, ok, I assumed something was holding the images together, makes sense.

I hear ya 'bout the voting power. I don't have my slide-scale voting just yet (need another 160+ SP, thinking to just buy it but damn, prices keep falling through the floor, so will wait a little longer) so I'm stuck bouncing 4 pennies off the heads of those whose stuff I dig, and 20% voting power goes quick when you can't do percentage votes!

I've heard whispers of the community thing, but I need to learn more about it. Any tools to pool people together sounds good to me - regular people linked together stand a better chance of being picked off/f*cked with by the BIGS moving into this place looking to disrupt and control. We'll see.

Yeah, the couple hundred people I have following me (yeah, big numbers I know) are by and large not active....ho hum, time to write.

Since I've been following you I usually see your posts right before I go to sleep, and then I lose a half an hour of sleep time reading your posts and then reading all the comments because both are ridiculously entertaining.

Congrats.

It gets wild in here. It used to be a lot busier as well but I'm noticing a lot of people losing interest just in the platform in general. When the value drops, this happens. My votes obviously weren't the reason why people came, because I've been voting the entire time it got slow. I just hope things pick up again. It's entertaining for me as well. My face usually hurts from smiling so much after a post.
