The Timings -- They Are A Changing
Working last night on a critical component of our project. Reconfiguration of a very busy intersection in town. This meant that the intersection had to go dark, which means Sunday work when it's quietest.
Everything needed to get brought down, dug up, backfilled, and put back up before rush hour on Monday. We were hoping for smooth sailing, but the seas were a bit rough -- delivering more underground forgotten treasures from the past. This time in the form of an old rivetted steel pipe about 1200mm in diameter, right where our street signal was going.
7pm finish quickly turned into 2am, but the gang got it done and traffic is flowing. Engineering plans are useful, but sometimes the ghosts of old infrastructure tend to haunt their underground homes.
