BUILDING A NESTBOX
With the breeding season not far away I decided to build my own nestbox this year, you would be surprised most of the bits required are just left overs from other DIY jobs
The dimensions required are straight from the RSPB website
You will notice two different sizes on the dimensions but all will make sense when you read the information provided on the website, basically it all depends on what type of birds you are trying to attract
I started off using some wood I had left over after replacing some floor boards upstairs
I just Measured up and cut the wood , even with an old saw it doesn’t take to long , and now for the fun part
The RSPB recommendations you drill a few drainage holes in the bottom
For the lid I used an old hinge I got from the wife’s father
And a fastener I got for a few quid on eBay
I decided to put a window in this box because I’m going to install a camera and I’ve been led to believe the camera needs just that bit more light or it might just record in night vision (B/W)
I used a small piece of Perspex
Then finally I covered the roof with something to protect it against the weather
Now some of the things I’ve done are optional but the most important thing is to have a go and hopefully I will get some great pictures to share on Steemit, cheers for taking the time to look cheers mike
Buen trabajo. Lo rellenas con algo?
Thank you very much for your reply cheers mike
Nicely made and simple, well built construction. Thanks for the idea.
Give it a go it’s not hard big reward if the birds use it, cheers for your reply thanks mike
