Motivational Mondays - You can change!

in #life7 years ago

“I just can not do it” can be a very difficult mindset to get over.

“I know myself, I’ve tried it several times and I just can not do it” can easily become an ingrained mantra in your psychic, leading you into a downward spiral and being extremely hard to remove.

Knowing yourself is an important part of life, specially when it comes to achieving your potential.

You should not be delusional, and keeping a grip on reality it’s a positive endeavour. However, reality is actually subjective thing (This is a big topic, full os philosophy, so we’ll leave it for another time. Let’s just say you see the world though your filter.)

You should know your strengths, but not take them for granted. You should know your weaknesses and not take them for granted either.

You should work hard and follow your projects, but you should realise when you’ve hit a dead end and evacuate immediately.

You should appreciate and respect who you are, but realise there is always room for change/ progress/ developing.

Let’s say you have been trying to learn how to golf and after few lessons you say to yourself “I just can’t get the hang of it”. While this can be a discouraging factor it isn’t necessarily true.

It can be that you just haven’t found the correct method for you. You haven’t found the right teacher for you. You can be applying the wrong strategy.

Maybe the next week you can get a life changing golf tip and as a result you will start to see exponential improvements. All that it changed is that now you are applying the correct strategy. Correct strategy for yourself.

People can and do change.

Change is a part of the human condition is what “change” us from behind hunter gathers to ocean crossers and internet inventors.

Our brains are like a muscle if you train it it will develop.

If you think you just can’t change it is probably because you are using the wrong strategy or you lack a piece of information.

One thing to notice is we are faced with the opposite sides of the spectrum quite often.

Now a days it’s easy to bump into someone that will make a point of shouting “ I can do anything!” This is just as bad, as “I just can’t do it”

Again I’m not telling you to be delusional… nor that you can just do anything, anytime, just because. If you never got how to play chess, even after several people explained it to you, don’t expect to become a chess world champion.

If you don’t have an infinite love and dedication for something that you can turn into a profit, don’t just quit your job because “I can do anything”

This does not mean you should feel ungrateful if you have a 9 to 5 job… Because “you can learn anything”

But you can change… the world is full of examples from people who against all odds made unthinkable choices and went places, where people from their original surroundings would not even dream of.

That’s it for today, hope you enjoy it.

As always, thank you for reading.
