Bamboo can be used for many things, probably most astounding the incredible scaffoldings in asien countries.
Bamboo is an unbelievably fast growing "wood" (biologically grass). It is a very interesting plant. In the "east" houses were sometimes build completely out of it and even in the "western" countries there are a few trials looking into bamboo as building material. This is either to replace slower growing (and increasingy scarce) wood or other materials that are more damaging to the environment.
One thing you can do with bamboo is what you can see in this beautiful video.
