Are Your Websites Making Money?

in #life7 years ago

Quick question: are your websites making money? Maybe you don't want to make money with your website and that is fine. But if you are like a lot of people out there who are trying to turn their site into a money making site but getting nowhere, this might be for you. If you want to make money, how to do so may leave you frustrated.

There are more ways to make money with a website than there is room to discuss here, but for now our purpose here is to get you thinking about some of the little things you may have overlooked or that you can tweak to get your website making money.

So by now you've set up your website and put some ads on it from Adsense and even have a few Clickbank products you are an affiliate with. Maybe you are getting decent traffic, but nothing happens. Does this sound like you? If so you may be wondering if it is possible to make money online really.

So you write more articles, you buy more links, you spend more money on Pay-Per-Click, you buy more ebooks and...still nothing!

I've been there before. If you want to know how to make money the knowledge you need to start off with is this:

Websites making money get traffic then do a good job of converting that traffic.

Traffic + Conversions = sales.

If you truly want to make money online, you have to sell something. A service, a product, something. Sure, you can set up content sites and fill them with Adsense ads and hope a lot of people will click them, but that will leave you frustrated in the long run nine times out of ten.

While it's not necessary to have your own website, in the long run you will make more money if you do. The good news is this can be just one page as I'll show you later.

Do a check of your site. Are you getting enough traffic? If you want your website making money, this is the first most important step. No traffic, you don't stand a chance.

If you are getting a good amount of traffic, look at your site. Is it easy to navigate? Does it tell your prospects what you want them to do? Does it flow well, or a bunch of jumbled pieces that don't all go together? Any one of these things is enough to make someone click out of there quick and look for something else.

The same is true if you don't have a website but are promoting affiliate products and sending traffic to a sales page. How does the sales page look? Just because someone has a product on Clickbank for you to promote doesn't mean they know how to put together a sales page that converts. Read the sales page on their site or your own. Pretend you're the customer. Does it get you emotionally prepared to buy? If not, some revisions may be necessary.

So what if both of these things are in order? You have the traffic, you have good content, you have a good product or service and it still isn't happening for you? You want to make money – how to?

Want to know a little secret? It's not really a secret, but a lot of people don't think about it. A sure fire way to start converting that traffic, build a business from home, work when you want?

Create a squeeze page and send your traffic there.

Whether you have your own site or you have no site and just do affiliate marketing, a squeeze page will help you make your sales take off. A squeeze page is nothing more than a page on the web that you direct your traffic to for a free offer when they opt-in to a mailing list. You can set this list up with an auto-responder. Your free offer could be a free ebook you have the rights to giveaway, or software, etc. Your visitor enters their name and email, hits subscribe, gets their free gift and is directed to your site, the affiliate sales page, your sales page, whatever.

So why is this so effective?

Because people are resistant to sales efforts. They've been scammed before, they don't have trust, they have heard a lot of fluff. If you are hitting them up right away with a sales pitch, they are tuning you out.

If you've ever been in sales, you know how it is when you make a cold call on someone. They know they are being pitched right away and the defense mechanisms go up. Sending your traffic straight to a sales page is like cold calling. Their defense mechanisms are kicking in.

The purpose of the squeeze page is to get them to opt-in to your mailing list. Through your mailing list you are going to warm them up. Send a few emails with information they will appreciate, and don't sell anything until a few emails in. Plus, now you have a list that will keep your website making money for years to come. You will earn money more often this way.

So if your website is not making money and you can't figure out why, give this strategy a try. With a little effort you can make money online really. And in no time you will have a website making money.
