How To Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Obstacles don't have to be painful. We often see an obstacle as something that slows us down and hurt us; sometimes we even let them make us give up. Success doesn't happen to you. It happens because of you. We often treat success like it's this promised thing like it's guaranteed.

Success can go only as far as we can develop ourselves. When we don't handle obstacles well, this is when we start to fail. Obstacles will happen no matter where you are at in life. And they never stop! Turning an obstacle into an opportunity makes you practically invincible. Nothing can take you down! All the sudden opportunities are everywhere in every situation. And they never end!

Learn From Them

Almost everything in life teaches us a lesson, but we often forget that the bad stuff also shows us a lesson. Take what you can from the situation that we can avoid it from happening again.

Teach Yourself New Skills

I'm always looking for ways to learn new things. This allows me to get things done differently and faster. I can approach my work differently, having a flood of constant new insight allows you to excel in every area of your life.

Stop With The Limiting Mindset!

Many people tell me that they are very impressed that I started my own business. I laugh it off! Because I feel like anyone is capable of starting their own business if they choose to. Especially these days, people act like I have some special ability or talent. When the reality is I'm willing to work hard. I spent years studying and reading books. I spent years practicing. But people like to have this limiting mindset, and they wonder what they why they don't get where they want to go.

What you tell yourself becomes true!

We need to pay attention to our self-talk. That's the little voice in your head. This voice can become very negative; we constantly tell ourselves something it often becomes true about ourselves. This is why it's important to feed yourself positive things. If you truly believe you can do something, you really can. It may take extra work, and you may fail a few times. But ultimately you will reach your goal if you're willing to pay the price for it

You Are Already A Winner!

You are alive, you are human. You get to exist in this beautiful world. You won. Being grateful for the things that you have, allows you to get more, it allows you to grow. Seeing an obstacle as a moment of discomfort, rather than a lifetime of failure. Will allow you to be grateful for the things that you have right now. And when you are grateful, you can get over the discomfort faster.

Shut up and listen

Sometimes people share their knowledge with us. Sometimes these people know what they're talking about. Often when something bad happens, we are too busy freaking out. When being quiet, and listening to what's going on around us. We'll help us solve the issue. Listen to all sides of the story

Choose an attitude to prevail. Develop an unshakable belief in yourself and your abilities. Have the confidence to be the exception, the outlier that overcomes all obstacles—someone who is willing to bet on themselves.

Whether something is an obstacle or an opportunity depends wholly on our perceptions. Any event can either be used to our advantage or disadvantage. We get to choose.

I used to think that certain situations really could be objectively terrible to the point that it couldn't be used to one's advantage. But then I read Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl, a holocaust survivor and psychiatrist. He explains in the book that some prisoners chose to use their experiences in the concentration camps to grow as people. Because their external situations were so horrible and could not be changed, they were able to change themselves mentally and spiritually into the people they wanted to be. People managed to turn obstacles into opportunities even during the holocaust.

If holocaust prisoners could use their situation to their advantage, what excuse do we have for feeling like we're victims of our environment?

I agree we get to choose.

I'm amazed by that book that you read, That some people were still capable to use such a horrible experience to grow! I love that example that you use. SO many of us take everything that we have for granted everyday.

A situation like that, Any feelings they had were justified. I can't even imagine the terror and horror those people experienced. So those people who still tried to grow and became who they wanted to be despite going through that are so incredible for doing so.

Yes!!! I love this! It’s all about your mindset!

You raise some critical points here. The self talk is huge, we are our own worst critics. Hand in hand with that usually is some form of self limiting, and it can all become a vicious cycle if one isn't careful
