Are you a world traveler...or even a regional traveler who flies from destination to destination frequently...? Have you ever found yourself looking like the guy in the image above...sitting on the side rail of the luggage delivery system, which is no longer running because ALL bags have been delivered and retrieved...except yours...? Unless you got lucky and found your bag before leaving the airport...chances are your bags ended up in the 'Land of Lost Luggage'...

The UBC...Unclaimed Baggage Center...notice how nicely they titled the store...'Unclaimed...' not "Lost"...this was done on purpose...it essentially allows these airlines to get away with selling stolen property...your LOST bags end up in an Unclaimed Baggage Center where anything and everything of value is removed from the luggage and sold...regardless of whether they attempted to contact you or not...and somehow this is legal, but running a fencing operation is not...

In fact...if your luggage is in good working order...or appears to be brand new...it will be placed on the rack and sold too...anything deemed to be worthless is trashed...and there are no shortage of people willing to buy your things at about half the price you paid for them already...(if I didn't know better, I might be lead to think that lost luggage was a profitable side business of overbooking flights at major airports...but they wouldn't do that...would they...?) and even if you go there and find something that you believe is yours...unless you have indisputable, undeniable proof...you're gonna hafta shovel out a few more dollars to get it back...

Here are just a few of the things one might find while shopping at the Unclaimed Baggage Center...and I dare say those are some fairly BIG items to lose as luggage...not to mention they appear to be of the 'high value' variety...a word to the wise...travel light...if it can't fit in your carry on, you're packing too heavy...especially if you have good stuff and you like keeping it...

As always, if you enjoyed the read, give us an upvote/resteem so that others can enjoy as well...until next time... :)

That is an interesting article. Like you have mentioned, unclaimed seems to infer that the passenger is at fault and not the airline!! Thanks for this.

It does, doesn't it...I found that a little amusing...almost like they want you to believe the passengers just walked off the plane and forgot their luggage...LOL
