Humility is a virtue that can be best described as an act of being down to earth, not pretentious and lowering oneself in relation to others.

Humility is a virtue that is greatly lacking in our days because almost everyone wants to show off their ability, possession etc and most times with the intention of intimidating others who don't have up to what they posses. And those who tend to be humble are tagged as being weak or fearful. But looking closely, you will see that it takes one with inner strength to be humble because humility comes with much things to bear and overlook.

The opposite of humility is pride and that state of having pride is being proud. So those who are not humble are proud and being a proud person attracts the frustration and fight from God because God resists the proud

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble

There is a word called gentleness that appear to be similar to humility but they are not the same thing. Gentlenesss is a state of being mild or soft or of a considerate disposition.

Not every gentle person is humble and every humble person possess a considerate level of gentleness

Like I said earlier on, people who are humble are often regarded as being weak or fearful but that's not true. Being humble saves one a lot of stress and it also comes with some benefits and a few of them includes;

Provides Room For Growth And Learning

A humble person is teachable; meaning that the humble can learn from anyone irrespective of age, class or one's possession of the person they are learning from. And this provides them room to improve on who they are and to be better people.

Easy Relationship With Others

Those who are humble finds it easy to relate with others because they don't place themselves so high where people can't easily reach them. But rather they place themselves in a position where everyone has easy access to them. This is one of the reasons why humility is one of the qualities of any successful leader because they can relate so freely with followers.

Earn The Rest Of Others

Humble people easily win the respect of others. This is so because their easiness with others makes them to be loved and generally accepted and can be entrusted with high responsibilities which will not fail because he or she is humble.

Peace Of Mind

The humble have more peace of mind than the proud because they do things not offend any one whether old or young, rich or poor. And this peace of mind also content of the little or big they posses. They don't live a life of trying to please people but rather, they live to do what is right and to ensure that everyone around them is happy.
