I love these insights into Chinese cultures. What about bikinis at Car Expos and Fitness competitions: Is this also offending Traditional values and are these imported from western ideas?
Actually, the traditional values are largely carried by those of the previous generation, particularly the 50+ age group. So, it is often circumstantial based on the people you are surrounded by. Of course, it is hard to not be around middle aged / elderly chinese people in China, but in some places , there are less of those demographics. Examples are the car expos fitness competitions and beaches abroad.
Is the young generation in China ready to rebel enough to overcome the control of the older generation?
My guess is no. They would rebel only in small ways where they can do it without causing a major ruckus in society. But I am not there, so your perspective would be helpful.
Also I am thinking the younger generation isn't entirely unhappy with the progress and situation. I am thinking they are reasonably supportive of the concepts of top-down controlled society?
The elders try to frame the West as suffering from liberalism, e.g. rampant drug use. Well they have a point.
