A STRONG 6.7 earthquake has struck near the city of Coquimbo in central Chile resulting in at least two deaths. Tsunami warning was initially issued but quickly cancelled. The quake hit at 10:32pm local time (1:32am GMT) and was centred just off the coast. The epicenter was about 15km (9.3miles) southwest of Coquimbo, which is a major port in the region of the same name.

Meanwhile back in Costa Rica It is another day of sunshine. We could do with some rain soon - it has been a few weeks and we have only had a few drops of rain. The rivers are sure low, many peoples water well's dry up at this time, so a good downpour would be most welcome. We have 29 Centigrade and 73% humidity. Waves are 2-3 foot with light offshore breeze.
