The emergence of illness due to Stress and Emotion

in #life6 years ago

The conditions are different when the individual's conscious mind can not find a solution to overcome the pressure. Inability to cope with pressure keeps the sympathetic nerves actively working, and parasympathetic nerves are paralyzed.

The activation of the sympathetic nerves activates the amygdala, a part of the central nervous limbic system that moves the subconscious behavior, making the organs and systems of the body work harder (overdrive). Well, this overdrive ultimately leads to physical disturbance in the individual concerned.

In early humans, the possibility of overdrive is very thin. This is because, early humans have the freedom to express a fight or flight reaction triggered by the amygdala. Unlike the case with the conditions experienced by modern humans.

As the times progress, the mechanism of fight or fligh is replaced by a cultivated response. The more people go to modern times, the more cultures, civilizations, ethics, logic, and beliefs grow. On the basis of cultural considerations, ethics, logic, or belief, humans can no longer use the mechanism of fight or flight to deal with external pressure.

Conversely, pressure must be dealt with in ways that are culturally or in ways that do not conflict with the social environment. This is what seems to be the reason why in the modern people often arise psychiatric and psychosomatic diseases. Again, psychosomatic and psychosomatic illnesses arise as a result of the failure of the cultural response to provide solutions to problems and pressures. Failure to respond in a culturally manner and a lack of ethics to express a fight or fligh reaction forces the sufferer (modern man) to withstand the reaction. As a result, the sympathetic nerves remain actively working. Blood pressure and heart rate increase. System and organs work hard aka overdrive and physical disturbances arise.

To be more clear, the mechanism of the onset of psychosomatic disorders can be illustrated by the following example.
You're having a semester exam. Your subconscious does the analysis, which comes to the conclusion that the test is a pressing threat. He presses because if you fail to do it, the lecturer will give less value. It has other impacts that threaten your position. Because your conscious mind concludes that the exam is pressure, since you realized you were doing the test, your sympathetic nerves are working, making your blood pressure and heart rate rise. Your adrenaline is encouraged. And you feel the sensation of excitement.

To overcome those feelings, too, so that the pressure that threatens your position vanishes, you must make a response or reaction. However, the reaction is not fight or flight. The social environment does not allow you to cope with the stress of the test through that response. Well, the response received by the environment is with you to do the test until it's done.

Up here, the tension is not over yet. When your test results fail, then the pressure reappears and the sympathetic nerves return to work. As with the conditions in which you are doing the exam, the environment does not allow you to respond to the failure with a fight or flight reaction. You must look for other responses that are acceptable to the logic, ethics, and culture prevailing in your environment and which are your subconscious belief systems. The success of responding in ways accepted by the environment will relax the sympathetic nerves, and in turn activate the parasympathetic nerves. With the active parasympathetic nerves, the tension in your body subsides. Blood pressure and heart rate return to normal.

When you fail to find the right repons, the sympathetic nerves still work. As a result, a fight or flight reaction keeps appearing inside your body. However, since the environment does not allow you to express the reaction, there is no choice but to keep it. Well, when you harbor this fight or flight reaction, your heart rate and blood pressure keeps increasing. The system and organs work hard (overdrive).

If it lasts for a long time, then over time your system and organs will experience extreme fatigue. The cells of the body also have no opportunity to renew themselves. Finally, the immune system's repertoire is inhibited. Well, when the reproduction of the immune system is inhibited, the body is susceptible to disease and disorders.
