Taking A Selfie Every Day Helped Her Shed 124 Lbs.

in life •  2 years ago

Justine McCabe had tried every possible diet since she was 18. Unfortunately, every time she failed at making any significant, long term changes. Last year, after her husband’s death the 31-year-old barely left her house and began to gorge on food as a way to cope with her pain.

After three months of his passing, family and friends encouraged McCabe to start going to the gym. Weighing 313 pounds, the mom of two began to work out six times a week. She also took daily selfies to document her journey and help her stay motivated.

McCabe set new goals for herself; to start challenging herself to do the things that scared her like skydiving, going to Paris, and cliff jumping. “Every challenge I tackled made me feel more alive and brought me back it life, it kept me fuelled to keep going on and living,” says McCabe.

Justine’s mom had passed away shortly before her husband’s death.

“I knew if I could survive living without my husband and mum then I should push my boundaries and limits to face all fears I had, to live a life they would be proud of,” says McCabe.

Wow. Great story and amazing transformation.

Amazing! I'm surprised she weighs 189lbs in that last picture? Was that a typo or is she really tall?

wow....that's great spirit....

Impressive....don't give up!

I think actively appreciating your body in its current state and looking at it with intent to grow in a specific way are both essential to achieving these goals. People who hate their bodies seem to get nowhere until they realize this. Your body has its own intelligence and is actually smarter than you are in a lot of ways. Respect it, care for it, love it, and it will love you back.

Oh well done! You look fabulous you must feel very proud. I'm so glad you made it through your loss and have come out the other side looking stunning 🕉😍

What an inspiring post! I'm still on my fitness journey down to 215 pounds. To see this post to see someone overweight like I am and able to achieve their goal is amazing and very motivating! Keep up the great posts!

Very nice. I am fasting right now. Plan to fast one day a week. In a few hours I am going to start walking 20 minutes to the beach, swim then walk back up the hill everyday. I cant do much cardio or weight training due to my injuries.
