I'm a huge retro games fanatic. Having owned nearly all the biggest consoles ever released, it was an honour to see these three absolute beauties being showcased last week. The Super Nintendo (pictured here with Final Fight), the Megadrive or Genesis (shown with the timeless Ghouls 'n' Ghosts) and that gem, the Sega Master System.

The memories I have pertaining to the enjoyment extracted from these machines, are almost incalculable. A time when DLC was non-existent and pure gameplay was the order of the day, I'll never tired of coming back to test my skills on some of the awesome classics back then. Double Dragon and Altered Beast on the Master System still bring a smile to my face when thinking about it all these years later.

Oh well, all great things must come to an end and that period in my life was no exception. But as long as hardcore gamers still hold events to showcase the best yesteryear had to offer, the flames of the past will never be extinguished. Corny as hell, I know, but that's my soul laid bare for you. Ah, the good old days... :)

I am equally corny when it comes to game system nostalgia-- I wore out many paddles for both Nintendo and Sega once upon a time!

For real? So glad you also share a love of this awesome time period back in the day. :)

Oh yeah! I remember the first time I played super mario brothers- it was at my cousin's house and it was MAGIC. And the hours and hours I spent on Contra alone...up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B A select start- I can't believe I still remember how to get 30 lives...now I'm thinking I need to find that game LOL

You know the legendary Contra code, recitable by memory? Now that's pro right there! :)

What's the name of the game, I've played it in arcades. I've been looking for it for ages
