Night of the Living "Critter"
Nope, this ain't an episode of Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. It is, in fact, our own personal ringside view out the window of where we are staying. This is a snapshot of a battle that raged through the night between warring factions of insects. This first guy is one of the largest grasshoppers I've ever seen. It crawled its way up and down the window pane in search of the few unfortunate moths that got suckered into flitting towards the light of our room and squatting up against the glass.
This next guy wasn't wasting any time though. A true predator in every sense of the word. I saw him catch a poor little moth and literally devour it before my very eyes, chomping away until there was nothing left. It must have taken all of several seconds. Chicken nugget, anyone?
Oh yes, when you're dealing with nature in its purest habitat, it can be a cold, vicious world. The weak are hunted and destroyed, the strong showing no mercy whatsoever. This is what life is like out in the wilderness. Something you better get used to fast, especially when living out on a hot tropical island such as this one.

I already feel itchy lol Now it is summer and all insects are out. I used to be scared of big insects like these and now I am trying to calm myself and be convinced that they are no danger :)
I'm still scared, man! Just happy they were on the other side of the window! :)

Those look pretty interesting! I love looking at shots of insects cause in real life I can't really look at them properly without feeling like they will jump in my hair :))

That is a truth the nature in its pure beauty, to eat or be eaten, like in ancient time that matched for human too and strong one survived or one with a strong friend and protector. Beautiful capture of little creature. I love grasshopper and always was fascinated with their ability to jump :)
